Rushad Eggleston was one who was new to me but I had fun trying to find something in all of this that y'all might enjoy. Apparently came up short, but there's a lot to choose from! Here's his bandcamp stuff. It helps to remember he's a cellist.

Got thru Scott's mix for the 2nd time. Time for my 2 cents.

Fantastic idea for a mix, a departure from our norm. Guys like this need support more than most these days. Songs that peaked my interest

War is Still Hell - Great opening track! After 2 listens I think it is my favorite
The Jazz Butcher song had some great rolling organ playing and most interesting lyrics
Mr. Spaceman - you really catch the lyrics better in this version than the original for some reason. At least my ears did
Antidote sounded like it was made in someone's basement. Probably was
Song for the Dreamers - who else used Bobby Ciccone in a song? Warren Zevon did, now Danny & Dusty. Wonder if there are others out there
Bill Lloyd does a pretty damn good Tom Petty impersonation
All Fucked Up was like an after work lullaby
Left in the Summer - really cool chord changes on this tune, NIFTY!
B-52's - I don't own any of their stuff so this is a new one on me, like the Deep Tracks!

Glad you came thru with a great mix for us! Keep up the good work.

I liked how this all came together with your explaining the process. Scott has friends in high places!
Nice flow. Even though it was unexpected on your end. I like that all your title/ songs/ artist all showed up in my I Tunes playback window. Nice feature.

1. War Is Still Hell. Nice poppy tune there for such a depressing title and lyrics.

2. Don't Feel Bad. Always liked Rain Parade. Never heard this one for some reason. Loved the psychedelia! This will be added to my library.

3. Name Hog. Chunky.

4. Disparate Numbers. Big sound. I listened to this one a lot trying to figure out if I liked it or not. Still trying.

5. New Moon. Here’s to looking at your shoes! Nice. It inspired me to do something for the future. A nod to Justine from Wyoming.

6. Southern Mark Smith (Big Return). Not familiar at all with Jazz Butcher. Nice one. Who is Mark Smith?

7. Play That Fast Thing... missing this one on my disc. I am familiar with Brinsley Schwarz. I think I have 3 or 4 of their albums. Must dig them out for a listen.

8. Mr. Spaceman. Blasphemy! Nice version...but...

9. antidote. Meh.

10. Leave It in the Ground. A sledge hammer in the rhythm section? The Apocalypse is near!

11. Salt of the Earth. Yes. Footstompin’!

12. Song For The Dreamers. Me likey. They mentioned a Dodge! I almost put some Green on Red on my Bovine Punk Mix CD. Next time.

13. What Time Won't Heal. Very familiar with Bill Lloyd. In fact, this song is in my I Tunes library. I found him exploring Power Pop songs years ago.

14. All #*$& Up. Another nice tune. This guy reminds of Robyn Hitchcock.

15. Left In The Summer. Power Poppy! I like this one the most. Kinda like Matthew Sweet. I will definitely add this one to my library.

16. Silver Darlings. How can you not like Vision Thing being a R. Paradise listener? Did she mention the name of the group in this song?

17. John Coltrane Stereo Blues. You have to have Steve Wynn in your Mix.

18, Dance This Mess Around. This is also missing in action on my CD. That’s alright. I’ve been listening to the B-52’s since their beginnings way back.

Thanks for your work Scott. I would have like to seen your famous sleeve work that you've done in  the past.

Hard to describe who the Jazz Butcher is; Pat Fish is he, but the Jazz Butcher Conspiracy and assorted other amalgamations featured Fish and Max Eider plus others; this album had David J and Kevin Haskins from Bauhaus.

Mark E. Smith of the Fall, notoriously cranky SOB from the North of England; I assume the Butcher is describing himself as equally prickly, but from the South? He's one of those guys who's way smarter than I am (said as though that's a rare thing) so I don't really spend a lot of time trying to decode his lyrics. Like Robyn Hitchcock, they tend to go into the absurd with plenty of locals-only snark that I wouldn't get anyway.

I figured you'd have Danny & Dusty already.

Most of these songs are as new to me as they are to you... that's the best part ;-)

I listened to the mix a while ago, neglected to comment. So here goes:

The whole disc had the feel of a time capsule, something that attempts to capture the feel of a particular era. I loved the concept and have collaborated with others on a couple of occasions. Stay tuned, in fact...not to give anything away.

The disc started off with a bang, sounding kinda like something Nick Lowe would have on his no-doubt hipster vintage stereo. In fact I kinda felt the presence of Brinsley Schwartz and Rockpile throughout the disc, not just the one cut.

Standouts for me were the opening track, Vision Thing (how did I end up avoiding buying this record?), and Dream Syndicate. Didn't even miss the B-52s. Not familiar with much of this at all, sor thanks for that!

(assuming you're talking about the mix I sent out) Getting things you might not have heard before is always the prime concern. I think I still managed to include something I'd used on a previous RPMCC mix. I have a few Jazz Butcher CDs but always grab that one for some reason.

When I was putting the mix together I got pretty fed up with trying for any cohesiveness and eventually just said fuggit and dumped the songs onto discs. Later I listened to the mix at work and yeah it does hang together better than I thought it would. The "time capsule" is interesting because 7 of the tracks are from 2020, only 4 are actually from the 80s. Some of the artists are people whose heyday was the 80s so sure their current stuff is reminiscent of that time, and of course the invisible hand of Scott's brain probably had a lot of say in how it all sounded.

I've got two mixes almost ready and need some input as to which y'all want to hear. One is (almost) all instrumental traditional dance music. Might be a little too mellow for those whose feet don't instinctively move when you hear it.

The other is more rockous. I put it together as a party mix for a political gathering, and if y'all are sick of politics it might not be for you.

Please sound off, and I promise to respect the outcome of the election. Russians are welcome to interfere, but be advised doing so signs you up for a slot in the rotation.
