4. I know that voice; Charles Bradley? Working..yep. Usually don't like him, but this is nice.

Bradley covering a Black Sabbath song no less

13. I am like there is a Steely Dan song I haven't heard? Ok this has to be a duet with Fagan or Fagan had something to do with this, right?

Yes this is Fagan all the way but from Todd who wrote it and recorded it with Fagan. The album has a bunch of collaborations on it.

17. Never heard of this band, this actually sounds like John Lennon. Will have to give these guys a listen.

I had never heard of them either, then I took a flyer on an album with a cool looking cover at an estate sale for the low low price of $0.30 and was hooked. These guys were really good in their day, not sure why they are in the prog rock weeds.

Volume 2 of The Mini Miser Mix. Some Background
Black Coffee
came about when I heard the Humble Pie tune on the radio and thought hmmm here's an idea. Tie it in to current events.
Under the Covers.. a full disc of covers? Nah! So I put up a few that I think are unique enough to perk interest and debate...better than the original?
Where are the Words.. a full disc of instrumentals? Snore
but a few is enough for a taste
Poets Who Know It - May do this one again as there is still some good material out there
Burnt Orange - I thought if I'd do a Political theme, now is the time. Plus Kurt's not in the group anymore so it felt safe. Ugly Man was actually done for Bush 2, but I thought it was still applicable.
Now That's Progressive! - I'm a BIG fan of Prog Rock and would love to do more. A whole disc would have been OK, unless you don't like it. Then...

Highlights for me:

1. I know he is singing backup on this one, but Paul Carrack is one of my all time vocalist. Total Karaoke.

2. Tina Turner? lol I guess not. Never heard this one. Ok I'm cheating; fookin Steve Marriott; shoulda known. Very underrated vocalist.

3. I'm wearing a Zoot suit, smoking cigarettes and drinking bootleg gin or is it black coffee?

4. I know that voice; Charles Bradley? Working..yep. Usually don't like him, but this is nice.

6. Well that is certainly a different take on Satisfaction.

8. Really nice track, favorite so far.

9. Hadn't heard this one in quite awhile. Love the skinny chicks. lol

10. Robyn Hitchcock? Let's see how I did.....Nope Ian Hunter..very interesting.

13. I am like there is a Steely Dan song I haven't heard? Ok this has to be a duet with Fagan or Fagan had something to do with this, right?

14. Never heard this one before, never would have guessed Rikki...huh.

15. This one sounding like the Dan too, I actually have this song so I knew who it was but never noticed how much it sounds like a mixture of Gabriel led Genesis and Steely Dan. Don't listen to Gentle Giant that much, need to remedy that.

17. Never heard of this band, this actually sounds like John Lennon. Will have to give these guys a listen.

18. I have started going back and giving the early prog bands; Crimson, zappa, Beefheart another go.  So yes, a Prog mix would be most welcome!  Back then, I wasn't really into this stuff, but my fondness for the strange has led me back here. Love Fripp's guitar work with Eno; let the Fripp rip!

You held very tightly to your themes, there was nothing ambigous at all for figuring out what you were going for. Nice work Miser Man!

LOL!

We stopped using CDs a bunch of years ago.  Might have donated them.  Otherwise, I would happily send a care package.  Must have had least 30 of them.

These days, a CD gets burned to FLAC and/or MP3 and music gets carried around on USB sticks.

I got a CD in the mail yesterday. Sunday. SUNDAY. That was weird. Not that I don't appreciate it but when something comes in the mail USPS on Sunday, I sort of expect it to come with a snappy salute, a form to sign, and that it will self-destruct 5 minutes after I open it. Will dive in soon; just dug out the CD burner/reader tonight.

Ergo: somebody shoot me the address list; I got my mix ready and just have to buy some blank CDs and print and mail and all that jazz so if it's my turn, I'm right on time and if it's not my turn, I'm sending them anyway because if I put it off it'll be 2023 before I get back around to it ;-)

Already found some favorites on the first spin through.

Being in the club for many years sometimes it's tough to come up with a new theme for an entire disc. So last time around I put together some mini themes of ideas I had that didn't pan out or didn't have sufficient material. And being that I jumped into the September slot at the last minute it was easy enough to punch something out like this. Glad your enjoying!

For creating a disc... I'm not much of a theme guy.
Mixtape's to me are for giving away to your girl friend/ man friend/ wife/ etc.  to impress them with your style / mood of music. Besides, I'm not that sharp to get a theme going for 20+ songs and keep it interesting.
So, my "tapes" will be a "theme" of my favorite sets, genre or era.
I may attempt a theme I wanted to do for years...  but it's pretty easy.
