I believe that was a recap of the last lineup rotation. Hopefully we can get a new one together for October onward in the near future.

we bumped a month along the way, you should be in September and Kurtster in August. Haven't heard from Kurt if he is on target or not.

Can you IM me your email address BTW so I can get in touch with you when needed?

Many, many apologies for the very tarty response. I received the mix just before going on vacation up to "Down East" (Maine). Very relaxing and peaceful. We didn't turn the TV or radio on for a week and only listened to my iPod library collection. We had WiFi, but except for an occasional FB post I easily stayed away.

Then, getting back home to NJ the stress returned with the madness of my very busy employment and trying to get work done around the house.

Anywho, I am listening to the mix as I type this and enjoying it greatly! Many familiar tunes, but also new discoveries.

I've been to José Tejas many times and love that place. Please let me know next time you go so we can meet up. I believe I once private messaged all in the group my email address. I usually respond to that quicker than private messages here since I don't log into RP too often, listening mostly via my Google Home.

So this mix came about when my son started working at a local Tex Mex restaurant here in New Jersey called Jose Texas. While the food is good he would come home complaining about the crap music they would play on a loop and that he would have to hear Cheeseburger in Paradise 20 times a shift. He tells me I should make a mix for them to play. Alas the Tex Mex is born. He since left them to work elsewhere but I will always have this mix in mind whenever I stop in for a burrito.

i've thoroughly enjoyed this mix (as well as the others i've received)

some very comfortable classics (herb took me back - my folks, esp mom loved that stuff)

as well as some surprises

some i've heard in passing like the mavericks, james mcmurtry and richman

and a few "new to me" artists - or stuff i didn't recall like jill sobule and alejandro escovido

cover art was cool too

{#Cheers}     {#Music}

Sorry to take so long, been a crazy busy summer and I owe Coldiser a review and an apologyy.

First because I thought I wouldn't like the mix! I peeked at the song list (in my defense the PO destroyed the CD case so I had to pick the pieces out of the envelope) (no worries, it played fine) and I assumed from a quick glance that I would find very few surprises here.

About half the cuts were familiar but the other half were fresh, even some from artists I was pretty familiar with. You found the one Lyle Lovett album I don't own, and some terrific stuff from Jill Sobule and Alejandro Escovedo and Calexico and Rickie Lee Jones. And of course the stuff that was familiar was familiar because I already liked it.

So ¡saludas, amigo!

As always I am reviewing without looking at songlist so I have no idea who or what I am listening to if I have never heard the song.  Highlights for me:

1. Reminds me of a mix between Bad Company and Caged Elephant. Rockin tune!

2. Real blues rock feel, dig the keyboard.

4. Have not heard a lot of Hendrix deep cuts before, but this was the closest to pure blues I have heard. You can really hear the Albert King influence in this one.

5. Was thinking of some of the artist in my head that you would like, this one sounds like Tinsley Ellis.

9. And another I was thinking you must like is Kenny Wayne Shepherd...on cue! lol

12. Had to cheat on this one because I could have sworn I have heard it before and seeing the artist did not help, but yes this was on the radio for a very brief time I want to say in the mid late 90s?

13. Had to cheat again because I knew the voice and yes I remember the band, but never heard this track before, love the chorus, I am sucker for that kind of multi layered chorus.

16. Boy did I just get a quick and visceral flashback to the 90s, this song brought me somewhere very specific!!
Somebody likes blues rock! lol Great summertime party music, will have to bring out when the company comes. Nice initiation entry, welcome aboard!

i go through immersive (and re-immersive)  phases from time to time

and yes i grew up in an area where music was big business - heavily influenced by the blues

big annual blues fest going on there right now...

one of the reasons i love rp is that it has exposed me to a ton of new stuff
