This little device I came up with isn't 100% squirrel proof, but it does keep them in good shape. They have to jump about 3 feet up from the ledge, grab the ear of corn with their little squirrel paws and try to hang on while eating and spinning at the same time. My Dad likes it better than most of the stuff on TV.

Or you can just give up and build one of these solar powered squirrel feeders like my Dad did.

We used to use an aluminum snow dish thingee (with car wax on the bottom) flipped upside down over the feeder - the squirrels would try it and slide right off.

We have one of these and it works well. Just make sure you hang it far enough from the tree trunk so that the squirrels cannot leap sideways onto the feeder. Super Dome Squirrel Baffle (From $27 online)
