It's only offered periodically, so I recently took the quick drive over to Half Moon Bay and the Ouroboros Aquaponics Farm.

Really impressive stuff. They repurposed a previous greenhouse with their equipment, and have been there about 7+ years, which is more than most of the local farms. The owner is really good about making sure that every aspect, including waste products, have some monetary value to someone so they recoup most of their investment.

Since the water circulates, he figures he could be asked to cut back on water use 85% of his allotment and it wouldn't matter in terms of output. Other farmers would be out of business immediately.

Also, all organic, fresh, and healthful. He supplies to Benu in SF and a lot of other local restaurants. He confronts us all: "WHO is your farmer?" and if you don't know, then you figure it's Monsanto with their RoundUp covered plants that no amount of washing can make clean.

Here's some info and video. I was considering setting up some of the system in the backyard and now my wife is going to harass me until I actually do. She was very much sold on the idea.

Funny thing. I think if I still have tomatoes in July I am doing good. Been very mild weather, but the heat is coming on in Texas. Okra and peppers is all that will produce much going into the dog days of summer. Though I have some small golden cherry  tomatoes that still get a few. Garlic all harvested. Sweet potatoes in a few weeks. All a 10X14 space, plus a few around the pool  is all the space I got. beans have been so plentiful actually had to jar some (9 quarts). I forget how to post pics here.

I pulled up the garlic a couple of weeks ago. they're curing in the basement. the onions are just starting to fall over now.
I have oregano and thyme growing in the landscape gardens. it's a nice ground cover.

Today's harvest is  6 zucchini and a boatload of cucumbers  Probably 15 lbs.

major harvest from the garden today!
5 small ripe early girl tomatoes. if you have ripe tomatoes by july 4, you've done your job as a gardener.
3.3 lbs of green beans
a couple of zucchini
11 pickling cucumbers
2 onions

This was the worst year for my garden ever. Never had a fence around anything until the ground hogs wiped out every thing twice not to mention the squirrels and chipmunks. So I built 2' high fencing around the various sections and enclosed the entire back yard with chicken wire on the bottom of the ranch fencing.

So after all that my harvest was a hand full of beans and pea's and 8 semi-ripe vine tomatoes. No other varieties of tomatoes or Zika's, yellow squash, peppers, corn, or my favorite veg, cukes.

Now got to wait till next year. : (

Thirty pounds. *facepalm* - I finally got three.
Not three pounds. Three.

Of course, my yield went up once I killed the four dog-sized rats that were visiting the garden all day long.

I have had more tomatoes this year then ever due to the unexpected cold snaps and rain we had. Whatever I have set now will probably be it though. Peppers have been steady. Had built a new trellis but may have over-crowded it with beans.  I only managed a few cukes as they were overwhelmed by the beans. Tried a new thing though, cuca-melons or mexican sour gherkins. Not really worth it for the grape size fruits, but it seems to be doing well. Will be harvesting garlic, shortly.
