Back 10-11 years ago when I ran about 7-10 miles about 4 days a week my best was only a pitiful 9:45 for a mile. I was not built for speed. Though at the same time I was riding my bike 200-300 miles a week and could hold a speed of 17-18 MPH on level ground. Today with my knee I would be hard put to walk a mile.

I wonder what my time would be if I just ran one as fast as I could...
Speaking of running...I've started back at it, but the black ice in this neighborhood is SO annoying. I don't like to have to hold a "caution" stance when I run, never knowing what I'll be slipping on.....
Well, that 6:30 was me... in the army... Fort Bragg (the installation with the toughest physical training standards of ANY Army post)... age 27. I'm 41 now and I'd probably die if I tried to sprint a mile.

I do know a LOT of men who look better in their 40s/50s/60s than when they were younger.

Hopefully back to runningr for me in the new year (I do a sort of animated plod) as I want to do a short distance triathlon in the late spring. It's a 20k cycle, 5k run and 750m swim.
