Gave up yesterday.
Now it's all about just hanging on and collecting the paycheck. Was brought on for one job, got handed six others, now trimmed to one big one, now leadership not communicating with me, and so almost left.
But my other half said, "why stop taking the money? Just keep your nose above water until we pay these bills and then you can bail."
Well, that makes sense. So I won't do crap work, but I've given up trying to steer them. They're moving to trouble and making bad business assumptions and I guess that's gonna have to be OK with me.
sometimes you just have to let people screw up because they won't listen to you anyway. take the money, then run.

he's got skills that are easily transferable
and to see that knowledge and talent sit on the sidelines is a tragedy
i'd seek like minded associates and continue

I don't think I could ever go back to working for a paycheck. I have a few clients where I work for them from time to time, but I am also blessed to have the luxury to "fire" a client where I can see these kinds of shenanigans going on and am afraid some of it might reflect on or otherwise impact my performance.
I miss the deal I got on health insurance, but not enough to go back.
I don't blame you. If my tendonitis hadn't shut me down, I might be doing my old occ full time still. Who knows...
Besides the too-low-for-PDX salary, I really liked this job until this certain person began her shennanigans. I am good at it, and I'm an expert.
When someone on one's team is noticeably being dishonest on hours worked, leaving early, taking way too many breaks with her bestie, evading tasks that are supposed to be done by everyone...and otherwise behaving manically and unprofessionally...and the team lead doesn't notice/does nothing.
It's not my job to police others. And I also don't feel like stepping into the role of "nark." But it sure does suck (for morale).
I sure miss working for myself. Not the unsteady paycheck and no paid time off and no benefits - but everything else.
