Hobby shops all over back in the very early 60's had these.
I was enamored by a few in Anaheim, California growing up. Way out of my price range since I was only 6-10 years old at that time.
And my parents couldn't afford to buy me one of those frivolous toys. "Not practical!"
Still haven't grown up... but still want to have fun!

I had some friends who liked to destroy stuff.
My parents "ruined" me with their favorite line... "This is all you get. You better take care of it."

When I was young there was a racetrack club in the basement of a strip mall that had a Hugh track 1:24, 8 slots wide I believe. I fell in love. And when my local YMCA purchased one for the kids.

Anyhow I just saw him this morning. I picked him up from where he rehabbed from a five-way bypass a couple of weeks ago. All he wanted was a bacon double cheese burger and onion rings. Life going on man.

Iâve got a nice HO & N gauge train set thatâs packed away in the basement too. Had a nice setup with mountains made of plaster of Paris with a tunnel and trees with handmade buildings and the car track with train crossing. My dad made me a nice power supply to run it, thanks Raytheon, and the statute of limitations is past so I can say that now.

It's been a few years and I've been a hankerin' to do some good ol' slot car racing.

My brother loved slot car racing, and organized the neighborhood kids into teams! I was pretty good at it, actually.
Awesome. I never had such a nice track or cars but what I did have I loved. I still have a pair of Lotus cars to it.
