I love my SodaStream (thanks to BHD!)! I'm really liking the citrus ones: lemon, orange, grapefruit. I use the celery stuff in my Bloodies. I add a dash of the chocolate or walnut to warm milk before I froth it for coffee. Yum!

Mine is still going strong at about ten or eleven years of use. Not bad for a cheap plastic device!

Painful. Standard Negroni proportions are 1:1:1. And for the love of all things holy stir! Don't shake! And if you do shake, use a real strainer, not that thing in the top of the shaker. You want it clear, not full of ice shards.

I find tonic too sweet for Campari and prefer a simple Campari and Soda. But if you like sweet and fizzy, try a Bitter, Bitter, Bitter, Bitter. Of course that means you either have to develop a taste for Fernet Branca or end up with another dusty bottle on the shelf.

You won't like it. Our bottle is pretty old, like 20 years, but a couple of years ago I tried it in a G&T because the gin didn't have any ginnyness to it and the tonic was store brand. I had experimented with making my own tonic syrup which is ideal, but my batch went moldy in the fridge so don't make a ton at a time. Anyway I like the bitter tonic and out of desperation put a splash of Campari in and yeah that's the ticket! So now a couple of years later, the bottle's mostly gone.

But if you get some, you can make a Negroni too.

This sort of mirrors my experience with it except for the 20 years part.  We had a bottle in our bar back when I was in school because the general idea back then was to have a bottle of everything in the bar.  If someone showed up with a recipe we lacked the ingredients for we rectified the situation as soon as possible.  I remember not caring all that much for the drink that prompted us to get the bottle, but both my roommate and I thought a little splash in a gin and tonic made a very nice addition.  Over time it became a bigger and bigger splash and gradually evolved into a Campari and tonic with maybe a splash of gin.  It wound up being one of our more frequently replaced bottles.  It kind of grows on you.  Even after downsizing the bar to under a dozen bottles I still have some.

Maybe that is how I will learn to like Campari!

I had a very expensive Boulevardier in Chicago (worth it, nice cocktail & great view) and have started trying to make a good one. Got to get better vermouth. I always forget when I'm in the big city, otherwise it's Gallo.

Probably the best all-around bet is Dolin. I'm working through a bottle of Cinzano that I think is the best of the el-cheapo brands, but probably need to bite the bullet and up my game.

Campari is a acquired taste for most people. Many years ago when a niece was staying with us for the summer, she said she didn't want anything too adult when I offered her a cocktail. I said my goal was to get her to like Campari. I was successful.
