She lives in her father's (exceptionally long) shadow, right or wrong. I think she was criticized for riding his coattails, and that might have been true at the very beginning of her career. If her name was, say, Doris Kramden (no relation to Ralph), she wouldn't have received the early exposure.

<BUT>

She has a strong catalog of her own. No one can compare to her father, but she is no slouch, and has the records and awards to prove it. And when she sings her father's songs, it's extra special.

John Denver and Placido Domingo - Perhaps Love
Reminds me of my dad - a Denver fan. I've recently moved up the country (UK) and I miss him.{#Sad}

Ok, so I was thinking about this more today and opened up my Rhapsody player and decided to listen to Soft Cell's (two) versions of this song. The 7" single and... Yes the 12" remix. OMG what a total piece of crap they both are! The remix version is 8:53 minutes with the first 3:38 being an instrumental intro featuring keyboards and clarinet. Crap!!! Some things can never be unheard!!! Neither song is even sad though the lyrics are anything but happy.

David Gray not only proves that you can put lipstick on a pig... but the pig can also be transformed into Kate Upton in the process.

I'm off to listen to A Flock of Seagulls...

There are so many David Gray songs that make me teary-eyed, there's no sense in even making a list. That guy knows how to move people.

Ha,

I looked up the lyrics for Soft Cell's original version and looks like David modified some of them slightly. The original version includes these lyrics that David did not include:

We've been involved
For quite a while now
And to keep you secret has been hell
We're strangers meeting for the first time, okay?
Just smile and say hello
Say hello then wave goodbye
