The scans happened today, and it's been a long time since the news wasn't all good on my scans. SO here we are...

The mysterious liver lesion(s) have started to act up again. We still don't know what they are, and they've been dormant for 2 years.
This time, the protocol is an MRI to see if we can determine exactly WHAT they are, and what needs to be done to deal with them once and for all.
So. Shit.
Everything else is still looking great!
I am waiting to hear from the MRI scheduler. It could be soon.

I'm scheduled for my bi-annual scans tomorrow morning.  They never called me to confirm, or to give me specific instructions (such as: "do not eat for 6 hours prior").  They ALSO did not call to say "DON'T COME on that day!"
SO...while I have on my calendar that I am scheduled, it's an uncertainty that it is actually going to happen.  When I realized they hadn't confirmed, they were already closed for the weekend.  Be that as it may, I'd appreciate all of the good juju you can muster!  Thanks..... If these scans are clean, this will mark the end of 5 years survival as a stage 4 cancer patient.  That is a big freaking deal. {#Clap}{#Dancingbanana}

You go girl !!!  {#War}

This is a time for a major celebration with unbridled giddiness and happiness.  The longer you live the more likely you will live longer.

Yes, the 5 year mark is a big freaking deal.  That is as far out as traditional life expectancy forecasts go for cancer survivors, IIRC.  I remember when I hit mine.  Only 20% who have my flavor of stage IV cancer make it to 5 years.  You are now hitting double overtime as I have come to think about it.  My 10 year mark was in April so I'm now in triple overtime.  I believe that bhd has 10 years on me and 15 on you.

With all of that, be happy and when you show up for your scan, do let everyone know that it has been 5 years.  People who are in oncology need to know these things because it helps them do their grim job knowing that there are happy endings out there and it helps them to reinvigorate and keep them moving ahead themselves.  And if for some reason the scan was cancelled, remember that A) you are still here to reschedule it and B) you are still able to reschedule it.  That is what matters most.  You are still here with all of us.
