In Canada, the two main sports network are TSN and Sportsnet. If you are not a Toronto fan, especially in hockey, you have to put up with their bias. Especially if you are a Montreal Canadiens fan.

On my smartphone, I use the Sportnet app. I just happen to like it better than the TSN app. Last night, my Montreal Alouettes beat the Toronto Argonauts in the CFL. Every time you go to the Sportsnet app and check the CFL news, the top story is always about the game(s) from the previous night if there were any. Like I said, my Alouettes beat the Argos. The Alouettes are now 2-8 and the Argos 3-6. They snapped a 6-game losing streak against a Toronto team that had two come-from-behind wins the previous 2 weeks. This time the Argos lost against a pitiful Montreal team who came from behind to beat them.

I checked the CFL news this morning on my Sportsnet app. Where is the story of last night's game? Top story? Nope. That's a Toronto story, about Duron Carter getting ready to sign with them after being released by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The recap of last night's game is story number 7!!! Heck, story number 6 is about a game from last f***ing week. {#Razz}

Like i said, it was late at night. I stepped out on our back deck with my 2nd daughter in tow. I shouted out at them telling to keep in down. One of the girls screamed back at me, basically to tell me to STFU. The girl was a friend of one of the neighbour's boy, and he tried to shush her up (he was a nice kid, really). When that girl screamed back at me, i turned to my daughter and said, "Don't you ever act like that when you grow up". She said she wouldn't. I believed her.

Hope you get better soon, Alexandra. {#Cheers}

 Well, thanks - I can certainly put up with the inconvenience of smoky conditions when others are having to flee for their lives and lose all their worldly belongings.

RD - possibly - sometimes even the best parents have kids that go rogue and make grave errors on their own

I really hope consequences are swift and harsh. You just don't ignore RED FIRE WARNINGS because you want to have a little Labor Day fun, and endanger thousands of lives and blow through thousands of taxpayer dollars to fix your mess.

WHY THE HELL DOES a FIFTEEN YEAR OLD HAVE A MORTAR???

I couldn't find any news articles (fake or otherwise) to back up the story I've heard about who caused the latest wildfire in the Gorge, but it's burning up one of the most beautiful areas around here, and causing lots of trauma and evacuation of people...and over one hundred hikers had to spend the night in the forest because it stranded them. Totally senseless. I hope if it's true, the kid is severely fined, punished, and made to do weeks of community service.

Don't impose unrealistic deadlines, recognize that (however careless it was) it wasn't malicious. Get the work done before you get final payment in case there's something the estimator missed or the insurance won't cover.

But above all be ready to let it go. If the guy can't pay he won't, and no amount of legal action will get blood out of a stone. And if he can but is just a dick about it he can drag his feet and make it cost you more to pursue than you'll ever get from him.

Don't obsess about it, don't get emotionally wrapped up in it, just be ready to let it go. The peace of mind/karma is worth more than the fender.

Sent him an email this morning asking if he was aware that his insurance wasn't current. Not gonna hold my breath on hearing back from him. If I do, I'll offer him the opportunity to do the right thing and reimburse our deductible, and then I won't hold my breath on that, either.

According to the state insurance commissioner 25% of drivers in this state are uninsured. Pretty sad state of affairs, but probably correlates to the poverty level in this state to some extent.

That is what you have uninsured or under insured coverage for.  Make your insurance company cover it under your uninsured coverage and they will go after the other driver to get reimbursed.  Shouldn't cost you a dime.  Depending on your state, the court should know that he is uninsured when he shows up for the citation and that will play out according to the laws of your state.  Restitution is usually a part of that.

Edit:  I see that I was wrong about uninsured coverage in your state.

What does Uninsured Motorist Coverage pay for?

UM pays you, resident members of your family, and occupants of your auto for personal injuries caused by an uninsured motorist, an underinsured motorist or a hit and run driver. It does not pay for damages to your car! If an uninsured motorist damages your car, repairs would be paid for under your Collision coverage. If you carry Liability only, there would be no insurance coverage available to repair your car.

my other half was rear-ended by a guy with no insurance

our coverage (geico) paid and they will seek recompense from him

she paid the deductible ($250 i think, i wasn't very involved in the process)

Charming! It turns out the guy who hit us let his insurance policy expire. The expiration date on his verification was December of this year, but apparently he didn't bother to pay the premiums. Guess I'll be going down to the station house with the letter of denial from his former insurance carrier and swearing out a complaint to have him cited for being uninsured. Also, I'll see him in small-claims court at some point to ask a judge to make him pay our deductible.

They need to tweek the state law so that if you're paying in 30-day increments (or quarterly or bi-annually) that the verification states that and the expiration date actually means something.
