You know what's weird, though, is North Dakota isn't above South Dakota! It's messed up, Jackson! And all those tiny little states... man, just put them all together and make one normal state!

I love the Gambia/Senegal combination. It's just so bizarre. Nigeria is the biggish one on the West coast and you should recognise Liberia- I then sort of fill in from there. I think I have a good spatial memory so I mostly just can figure out the ones I'm not sure on by sorting through the nearby ones- but I sometimes get Mozambique and Angola the wrong way round - both former Portuguese colonies but the opposite coast to one another. It's weird how the mind works.
I'm particularly keen on the influence that the Portugese brought to their colonies in SW India. Vindaloo to be precise, and a channa massala and a couple of rotis on the side. Despite the cheap curry connotations, a vindaloo has it's roots in Portugese cooking, blending Indian spicing with Portugese wine (vin) and garlic (aloo) Yum. *edit* She's right beside me now, so this is all a bit odd. Not got any curry though.

Liberia, Nigeria and Ivory Coast I tend to remember, as well as the northern coast from its historical relevance in wars and all, (ie Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia). The Portuguese and Dutch colonies always melded together for me. I was awful at the Caribbean quiz - I forgot about all those tiny islands.

I score pretty well on Africa- must be colonial overtones.

I got 124/150 on the US states. Just locating them on a map. 3 points if you get it in one go, 1 point for 3 goes. Actually participating on RP has helped my understanding of American geography a lot. I'm now beyond "left is California, right is New England, middle is a blur" and I now navigate by - Wyoming for Scott and Justine and Emmie in Missisipi etc!
