I dont think TCM is showing the Alister Sim version this year. That one is my favorite.

I did set up an e-mail notification for an older version, but I dont remember what the date is.

It's A Wonderful Life is usually shown on one of the broadcast networks, NBC, I think. I dont watch it because of the commercials.

Well, plenty of languages with a different sound system are spoken throughout the world, so I couldn't write a list down (and annoy the others). What I can tell you is that English or French are rather poor compared to Swedish for instance. In some countries of Africa / Asia, people use words very differently ; by giving a same syllabic word several tones or stresses, they change the meaning of the word, which is very hard to understand for Europeans.

So, miss smarty pants, which languages, theoretically, offer the greatest advantage when it comes to learning new languages, all other things being equal. This would be the language with the greatest variety of sounds, yes?

There's an interesting theory about how babies acquire the capacity to produce words. To be short, it is said that every carpentillar has the ability to learn any language in the very beginning. It's like we sort sounds which are not used in the language we learn to speak. Because of our environment, we only keep a few necessary sounds. This theory can also explain why people whose tongue contains many sounds seem to be more gifted in learning languages. Though it would be too simple an explanation. Because of course, environment and education matter as well.

These mistakes seem to be made less often by those whose native language is not english, which is why I suspect it has to do with how we learn language, and when.

But I'm just a stupid caterpenter pondering beyond what I probably should.
