This evening in the park!

The Bureau of Standards Big Band is a 20-member ensemble that, true to its name, recalls the halcyon days of Duke Ellington at The Cotton Club, Ella Fitzgerald at The Savoy, and the Rat Pack at The Sands. Featuring the best of the big band hits from the 1930s through the 1960s, the band shifts easily between classics from the likes of Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra, Harry James, Dean Martin and Ella Fitzgerald to contemporary artists like Michael Bublé, Natalie Cole and Harry Connick Jr.

I will go with Gaucho, but you can't go wrong with the Dan!

{#High-five} Yes, a lot of people don't seem to like Gaucho as much as the other albums from their heyday, but I love it too.

BTW, looks like they're having fun on this tour - in NYC they're playing several nights with different themes each concert - Aja plus hits, Royal Scam plus hits, Gaucho plus hits, and a request night. My pick would be Royal Scam plus hits, probably my favorite album by them.

I wish I could go, got too much going on right now.  But yeah the Dan is one of the very few bands I would consider rubbing elbows with the great unwashed for.{#Lol}

 Atlanta is one of the few shows featuring "Aja plus select hits." That's OK by me, as long as they do play a generous selection of those hits.

Those were my motivating thoughts, exactly! I would go ahead and purchase them now - they sold out really quickly here. You can always sell them on Craigslist if you change your mind.

Woo hoo! They're coming to my town in September, so please give us your review after the concert. I'm on the fence whether to get tickets to the show, so you can help me decide. Actually, I should just go ahead and get 'em. Steely Dan is one of my favorite bands and I've never seen them live. Who knows how much longer they'll be touring...

Not yet summer here, but.....and for the first time ever; THE DAVE MATTHEWS BAND are playing in the land of his birth!

Early December (which is gloriously summer here in Cape Town)...me, two of my sons, and one as yet unnamed, unknown fortunate other - all together for an evening with The Dave Mathews Band!!
