I just finished The Secret History & I read Joyland recently too. enjoyed both quite a bit.

This girl is pretty awesome...and gritty....and makes you turn the page. And want to keep reading late into the night.
 
(I tried to get my hands on Gone Girl a few months ago - but didn't work out. That'll be next.)

I'm just catching up on reading all the newspapers that were on my front porch. Actually I found this in the walls of my last house that was built in 1764 in Petersburg. General Grants Band Members were using the house at the time this paper got "lost". Its the entire paper and not just the front page. Seeing as its from April 15, 1865 I've been very careful with it and its usually in a huge ziplock bag. Its ironic that it mentions "Jeff Davis" is now in still rebel held Danville and right now I live right behind the very house he was in on that date. They used about a number 2 font because they were trying to save paper because of the war, It even has the classifieds. Fun reading. I took it to the Nauseum of the Confederacy and they said its authentic.

Just finished New York by Edward Rutherfurd. Really good read (par for the course).

New car owner manuals - too much!  Gone are the days when you stuck your key in the ignition and just...drove!

I like reading on my Kindle because it gives me defs of words I don't understand, and Chabon is quite the wordsmith. The annoying thing is that it doesn't give you pages, it gives you segments.

I agree, any kind of reading expands your minds and stirs your creativity. Readers Are Leaders!

I'm reading an old Neal Stephenson now, the Diamond Age. For some reason I missed that one, I've read everything else of his. Yes, even the 3000-page one.
 
Somebody left a bunch of "Jack Reacher" paperbacks up in the Ski Patrol shacks so I've got 4 of those going concurrently. Mostly interchangeable, mostly crap, but total book crack. As mysteries they're really not very good and he always tries to throw in a twist that makes you go "ahhh what?" but you see it coming a mile off. Or it's just impossible. But they're addicting anyway and it's words on paper so that's better than not reading, right? Right?
