Bastards.  If I did somehow get a ticket to this show, I'd bring a bag of rotten tomatoes to toss.

On the other hand, I did get a chance to see Mick Taylor play in Manhattan a few months back, for a paltry $50.

I saw the Stones when they were GOOD, 1968, and I paid $6.50 for a ticket and sat in the 16th row. Mick wore a lavender dress.

When Keith Richards calls Spinner on a rainy Wednesday evening, he's in a jovial mood. The Rolling Stones are about to release a deluxe edition of their 1978 classic album 'Some Girls' on Nov. 21 and Keef recently revealed that he'll be jamming with bandmates Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts in London. The big question is still whether or not Mick Jagger will join them for a tour next year in honor of their 50th anniversary — and if Richards has his way, the band will be out there, possibly with more than just the current lineup. In this candid interview, the rock legend speaks — in his trademark warm, raspy way — about the band's future, his memories of recording 'Some Girls,' his well-publicized heroin addiction, his 1977 arrest in Toronto for drug trafficking, the inspiration for 'Beast of Burden' and his award-winning memoir, 'Life.'

Reading reviews, there's lots of attention for the sex and drugs in Keith Richards' autobiography, but the rock 'n' roll is left heavily underexposed.

Enter Nellcôte, France in Google Earth, then zoom in to see where the Stones recorded their Exile On Main Street double-LP. Click the photo link in the swimming pool to see a side profile of the house, located smack (no pun intended) dab on the Riviera.

Interesting article on Mick Taylor - hasn't been paid royalties from the band since 1982!  FYI, he's also doing some tour dates in the states in Mass, NY, and PA over the next few weeks, check him out...still a great player.

Man, I miss reading RS, but most of the stuff in there now is crap. I think they should have a Rolling Stone that has gathered some moss, for us old hippies  {#Lol}

I bet younger people reading the magazine think RS is already pretty mossy.  March 4 cover features Eric Clapton and (my fav, the incomparable) Jeff Beck, age 64 and 65 respectively.  Just about every issue covers U2, Springsteen, Aerosmith, and/or Rolling Stones etc. through features or gossip news.  Part of RS's problem may be its impossible quest to do justice to such a broad and diverse universe of performers.  Though, I must say I have enjoyed my practically free (courtesy of Amazon) subscription this past year.

Coming on DVD April 19

Rolling Stones,  Lynyrd Skynyrd and more
Live in Knebworth 1976

"The Knebworth Festivals that took place between 1974 and 1979 were seen as some of the most exciting one day festival bills in the seventies. The Festivals were masterminded by promoter Freddie Bannister who was the man behind the famous Bath Festivals of 1969 and 1970 and also the Lincoln Folk Festival in 1971.

"The 1976 Knebworth Fayre was a particularly exciting affair as the headline band was to be The Rolling Stones. The event took place on the 21st of August 1976 at the height of an unusually hot summer in the UK. Negotiations had been taking place since the early part of the year and an approach was made to the Rolling Stones. The Stones had already announced a series of concerts during the summer of 1976 in Europe which included concerts at London's Earls Court. An unprecedented demand for tickets saw more than a million applications for the tickets to these concerts. Knebworth allowed those who weren't successful in acquiring tickets a chance to see the Stones in the delightful surroundings of Knebworth Park.

"Also on the Bill were The Don Harrison Band, Hot Tuna Todd Rundgren's Utopia, Lynyrd Skynyrd and 10cc who played their final concert that day with the original line up.

"The DVD also includes rare footage from the festival featuring 10cc, Lynyrd Skynyrd and of course the Rolling Stones who played one of the longest live sets of their career that hot August night in 1976.

"In this in depth interview promoter Freddie Bannister casts his eye over the performances and gives his critical review of the concert and the events leading up to the concerts which included providing tickets for the men's singles tennis final at Wimbledon for Mick Jagger. You will also hear that Freddie Bannister did also consider another huge British Rock band for Knebworth 1976 before confirming the Rolling Stones as headliners.

"This DVD gives the viewer a fascinating insight into the concert and the events surrounding the concert both before and after."

A divorce costs money, especially for a Rolling Stone. So one house up for sale...
