Ha !  Yes the price did indeed come down.  Don't own the radio but I can tell you that CCrane is a good outfit, family owned and has great customer service.  You have 60 days to return it, no questions asked.

Still looking at this radio.  My present clock radio is 35 years old and its an analogue tuner so changing channels in the middle of the night is a bitch.  I've been listening to evening and overnight talk since I was a kid when I built my Remco crystal radio and listened with one of those old fashioned ear pieces.  Mine was before there was the single sided headphone.

In the meantime, I got my first tablet, an Amazon Fire HD.  Haven't really used it a whole lot yet, other than as a portable radio.  I've got RP and I ♥ Radio and some stations that I must use their webpage in order to listen.  Its pretty cool doing that.

(click here) this plugs into your stereo and makes it a wireless receiver. it's also an wireless base station that will work with your existing router to extend your wireless range. you just play your tunes from your computer and it sends it to your stereo. I use this and it works great. the only drawback is that is will only play content from iTunes.

Hi Jrzy,

I run several Airport Express devices throughout the home via windows environment and love them. One way to get around the via I-Tunes only is getting Rouge Amoeba's (Airfoil for windows/or mac). Basically allows you to run anything through Airport Express- Pandora etc.

If interested.

I don't want to sound like a corporate shill here, but we purchased a soundbridge (SB) (model 500), and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Initiatlly, there were some problems with interference from my neighbors wi-fi. But it seems that recent upgrades from Roku have fixed that. (On those rare occassions when we have interruptions, I just flip on the PC and the connection resumes...normally, we don't have to have the PC on to listen). BTW, upgrading is easy can be done without your PC by using the remote that comes with the SB.

We use our SB almost exclusively for its internet radio function. You can also use it to play music files stored on your PC. That said, there have been compatibility problems with the SBs and the latest version of Itunes. Basically, the new Itunes version won't let you play any of your music files using the SB. For now, the way around it is not to upgrade Itunes. See the SB forums on the Roku sight for which Itunes version works.

As for hooking it up to the stereo, it was a snap. Though you might have to make a trip to radio shack to figure out which cable you'll need to buy to connect the SB to your stereo receiver.

So, there you go.

I was just given an AE (Acoustic Energy) WiFi radio for my birthday, mostly because of my constant listening to RP on the laptop. I'm really liking the access to so much music and the diversity of radio from all over the world. I've got a CC Crane FM transmitter plugged into it so the stations are broadcast to the stereo. I had the 192K RP stream within about 5 minutes of figuring out how it all worked. So far I haven't found anything remotely equal to the quality of music on RP and you don't have that sense of 'community' as there is no forum or information about tracks being played. But I'd love to know of any station recommendations anyone might be able to offer.

The irony is that if you're listening via WiFi standalone radio, you'll never see this message.....

You get what you pay for, I had to mess with the antenna on my receiver to get it to pick up the signal, but it's working (FM quality signal). Cost: $40 plus shipping.

Here's a new option.

ccrane.com has a new stand alone box, although at $300 it aint cheap. It works off of any available wi-fi signal with no computer required and can be hooked up to an existing stereo system via its headphone jack.

As with any electronic device the price should fall soon.
