We saw it in the city as a preview on Tuesday... it was quite well done!!  We saw the 2D version. Awesome!  My friend works for Vespa and she gets previews all time :-)

Ah yes, the first gaffe.  May it be your worst.

(and I'm glad I didn't see it!  I like your substitution. )

They still have drive-ins? I thought those were all gone the way of disco dodos.

Yikes! An adult forum, the books arguably have as many adult fans as kids. The "kids" are now young adults who are killing and dying, fairly mature themes.
In any case, not my intent to make hamburger from sacred cows. Still new to this forum, it has soft spots in unexpected places.

Did not mean to offend, apologize for the gaffe. How 'bout I substitute this?

Actually the kids are still teenagers - 17 years old - at the time of the last movie. Adult themes, yes - but that shouldn't mean it's open season on creating softcore porn around them. We sexualize kids far too soon.

I realize you were kidding around, but you hit a button. Don't let that scare you off, though. Most people here are far less prickly than I.

In any case, not my intent to make hamburger from sacred cows. I'm a fan of Rowling's writing for the most part. She never considers teens as porcelain geegaws, but as tough, rowdy, randy, rebellious people capable of everything from treachery to heroism. Still new to this forum, it has soft spots in unexpected places.

I'm amazed... I can't find one person what wants to go to the midnight show.
I have a friend in Berkley who read all the books with me when we lived together. I promised I'd wait and see it with her when I swing by there next month, but I may accidentally fall into a theater tonight.

Always went to the book release date street parties at Powell's City of Books in Portland, big fun.

Is it true about the love scene added to this one?

Neither Xeric or I have read any of the HP books.  We did see one movie a couple of years ago and liked it.  I think we'll watch this one, then probably rent all the rest from NetFlix  to figure out what the heck any of it is about.  Looks intriguing, actually!

The first movie is a literal interpretation of the book, minus a lot of subtleties. I fell asleep in it, since it was so not-different. It looked just like what I'd finished reading.

That's why I've avoided all the movies afterward: the books are more complex.

She went to a lot of trouble to change their tone, as he aged. The early books are light and fun. But the time he's an adolescent, he's moody and withdrawn. Excellent writing.

I would have gone tonight if I had time off available but instead, I'm going to Tampa tomorrow to see it with my friend over there who got me into the books. Can't wait! But at the same time, I'm sad to see it come to an end.

I'd stopped at book 4, because it was so good that I was worried about going on, kinda like the bummed out I felt at the end of Lord of the Rings or Firefly.

Listening to the audiobooks now, in the midst of book 1.

Geez this was/is good. Man.
