None of that talks about President Trump, though. It's trying to answer the question with a distraction.

I was more than a little surprised on realising that almost all of the Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi etc guys who were on the rig I spent the last three weeks aboard, voted for Trump - and not because they were particularly enamoured with him, but because they reckoned him to be the lesser evil when compared to Hillary.
Most reckoned that they didn't care that Hillary was female - they just felt that she was truly the worst option available, male, female, whatever....

What is it about DACA that bothers you so? The opportunity provided to "others"?, the recognition that many of them have personally done no wrong and are contributing to our country?

If it's just symbolism you are after, hang on for your wall. It won't do a lot of good and will divert resources from other far more worthy causes. Seems like a fine symbol for you and the administration you still cling to.

Considering that over the last 7 months, the GOP controlled US government (White house, Congress) has shown zero interest in compromise, or even in including the other side of the aisle in discussions regarding proposed legislation such as Trumpcare 1.0, 2.0, as well as White house initiatives like the Muslim travel ban; considering that the DACA initiative undertaken by Obama resulted from the GOP House leadership's refusal to consider the Senate's 2013 bipartisan immigration reform bill S.744, I would say that the suggestion that they will now suddenly be willing to compromise politically on immigration reform is laughable.

What else you got? Shall we talk about obstruction of justice? Now there's a topic for real discussion.

How much is DACA costing us? How much would the wall?

Which does more to combat illegal immigration: a rational policy or a fixed fortification?

If you want to link the two let's do a comprehensive immigration reform. Allow enough legal immigration and work visas and the wall is irrelevant. How's that for a counteroffer?

Except the "Y'all" wanting DACA is really American business.
DACA is very much supported by businesspeople. (Wasn't the Trump's selling point - he's a businessman?)

U.S. CEOs Urge Trump to Keep DACA ‘Dreamers’ Program

 or is the "Y'all" wanting DACA really the GOP?

GOP lawmakers urge Trump to leave DACA alone, let Congress handle legislation

My point is that DACA isn't a blue/red issue, but is a business issue - and it's imperative that we stop viewing things through that lens. It's hurting America

hey guy

hope all is well

i'm not up to speed on every aspect of the daca

i did glean this over at niskanen

my general thoughts on people moving (aka immigration) is that as long as they/people are peaceful, respect human/property rights and want to be prosperous - come on in

politicians through ignorance, stupidity, aggression and blind ambition have really complicated the issue

as i've said before political power is based on force, aggression and coercion, economic power is based on voluntary exchange, trade and negotiation

which leads me to think of a couple of things (and there are more)

a) our political leader's foreign policy is based on aggressive behavior (invasions, wars/droning, embargoes, etc.) toward other governments and cultures

if our government is flat out murdering and maiming a lot of innocent people outside of our borders (and it is) it creates an incentive for retaliation and revenge (often compounded by bad beliefs)

b) politicians in the name of staying in power and exercising control will create welfare incentives for those moving here (immigrating) in exchange for political support

obviously this is a bad combo and it is a disastrous waste of precious resources and good will

if we can stop projecting aggression (unless justified) that would go a long way toward motivating others to stop the hostile responses

i haven't looked at the data in a while but the welfare squatters are much less of a problem

i believe (with good historical evidence) that immigration handled properly is clearly a win-win situation

i guess that brings us to the current situation (eleven million or so people here illegally many with children)

we can't and shouldn't reject these people (morally and ethically it would be a tragedy and the logistics are impossible)

it would be much smarter to give them a path to peaceful productivity and prosperity and deal with weeding out the bad guys (which i think are a very small percentage)

what does that process look like?

i'm not exactly sure, but i do know without a doubt that initiating violence on peaceful productive people isn't it

we have got to start somewhere and maybe that link above is a pragmatic effort to get the ball rolling

i've gotta go and push this shopping cart around costco and then to an asian market and score some kimchi  {#Hungry}

enjoy your holiday friendo {#Cheers}
