If you have some special insight into who may turn out to be a terrorist then by all means alert the State Department, but you might try practicing that art a little closer to home. Las Vegas, for instance
To be fair, Vegas incident is not a good analogy for the point you are trying to make. Most reasonable people (not political partisans with an agenda) use the word Terrorist when there is some type of ideological or political purpose to the act to promote awareness or fear to persuade action that will help their cause. Random mass shooters do not fit this description. Only reason I even mention this is because I see so many people arguing about this and when a mass shooter with mental issues is not called a terrorist, those with agendas use this supposed hypocrisy as an example when really it is not one. If a shooter provides a motive and reason that is ideological and not just cause he is bat ass crazy or mad at a co worker or the world or something then he is a terrorist, if not then he is just a bat ass crazy idiot who shot a bunch of people. Now if you define terrorist simply as someone who terrorizes then they all are, but we both know for political discussions that is not usually the case.
Edit: To be perfectly clear, I am not being political at all with my assessment or choosing sides, I hate that there are sides to take. If the Vegas shooter or any other for that matter is a White Nationalist or a Nazi then you bet your bottom dollar he is a terrorist, this does not appear to be the case with Paddock is all.

Without realizing it, you were probably remembering the New England version of "A Christmas Story", where instead of devouring the Christmas Turkey, the Bumpus dogs devour the Christmas clambake. The "Old Man" stands in the kitchen, amidst the remnants of the carnage, looking in disbelief at the last remaining clam in his hand, which he drops to the floor, while the narrator laments, "Gone! All Gone! No more steamed clams; no more stuffed clams! No more Clam Chowder! No more linguini al la vongole! No more clam pie!! No more clam lemon cake!!!" Where would we be without the verstatile bivalve, Mya arenaria?

What might be found out down the road is that he took that name as he came of age and was not his birth name. That would make a difference and in the discussion regarding immigration criteria should matter.
Be that as it may, I'd be willing to bet a case of Tim Tam's that he would not have made it past the Australian immigration system and allowed to enter there. Aussie immigration standards are what I would like to see become our standards here.
IIRC one of the first problems Trump had to deal with between our two countries was to accept immigrants Obama had agreed to take y'all had stacked up on your little island because they couldn't pass your standards. If they're not good enough for Australia, why should we take them in ? You guys are smart and we are so stupid. Uzbekistan is not on Trump's list of Muslim ban countries. In fact, it has anti-Islamist policies that Mr. Trump would probably be delighted to emulate—including a ban on growing beards. This has fueled radicalism in Uzbekistan; religious minorities tend to resent being suppressed. There is no custom I've ever heard of Muslims (born to Muslim families) changing their names when they come of age; there is a tradition of adopting a nom de guerre among insurgent groups, just as there is in other cultures. If someone's name is your clue that someone is a terrorist then you've got a very long list of suspects. Of course you're getting called on dropping a ridiculous little tidbit like this, because...it's ridiculous. If you have some special insight into who may turn out to be a terrorist then by all means alert the State Department, but you might try practicing that art a little closer to home. Las Vegas, for instance.

I'd dump him, but he makes a kick ass clam lemon cake. Wonder how you say "Baker of citrus" in Arabic? Pretty sure I can sell him on a name change once we show him the logic. Marty is short for Martin, which is derived from the Latin Martinus, for Mars, the god of war. He must be a total badass.
