but...with all the real problems the country is facing...including over $20 trillion in debt... it's this type of reporting, over "thousands" spent on flights or office decorations, that gives the trumpites some teeth that the media is out of sync, TDS...as for the turnover and lack of appointments...are those really such a bad thing? less gov? regardless, its trump's show, he doesnt want any help.

Kurt: I like you and respect you. I'm rooting for you and your family as you all deal with significant health problems. I think most other RPers feel the same way. I just don't understand what you still see in Trump and apparently others are puzzled too. But you have a right to your opinions and right to express them here.
I had not been following this thread's discussions very carefully before I pointed out how much Trump golfs and vacations. I pointed it out because his golfing habits completely contradict his campaign promises. No, I don't believe everything that a candidate promises, but the gap between Trump's pledge and his actual behavior of golfing excessively is f$%^&ing huge.
And that's one of the main reasons anti-Trumpers hate the man so much: he made clear, straightforward promises and then completely broke those promises. He's still doing the same thing as President. The anti-Trumpers don't necessarily agree that the things promised were good things or think that Trump would keep them, but to these people Trump isn't just flip-flopping, he's displaying signs either of mental illness, a complete lack of integrity, or a a very dangerous level of rash stupidity.
I didn't expect Trump to stop golfing after he made his campaign promise, but he's golfing far more than Obama did AFAICT. The golfing and the tweeting and the trips to Mar-a-lago are signs that Trump simply isn't doing his job as President. Trump's change of positions on DACA, gun control, North Korea, health care reform, tax reform etc. give people like me a sense that Trump doesn't know what he wants or how to achieve things once he does make up his mind. From what I've read, it seems that Trump was not involved with hashing out the details in health care or tax reform. GOP Congressional leaders try to get things done without Trump because he gets in the way of their notion of progress, even when those leaders and Trump agree on general policy goals. They also try to circumvent him because he changes his mind so much, often without warning or clear explanation.
IN SHORT: to anti-Trumpers, the man shows no commitment to diligence, trustworthiness, integrity or rational behavior. He has very few accomplishments. Many of the things that he has achieved—tax reform, health care reform—are going to screw over the people he promised to help. The people you were so angry for, Kurt. Those steel and aluminum tariffs aren't going to help those industries in the long run, and they likely aren't going to increase employment or pay for the workers involved. Good luck seeing that infrastructure program get off the ground. I don't expect any helpful result from the announced talks with North Korea, IF they ever happen. And he's definitely encouraged the growth of "the swamp" in DC.
That's why people here keep asking you why you still support Trump. He bashes and tweets, sure, but he's enriched the very rich at the expense of the middle class and working poor. He lies and he lies and he lies and he lies until you can't keep track of the lies any more. Personally, I can't admire a guy who cheats on his wife months after she gave birth to his child. That's a deal-breaker for me.
Maybe it's not for you. I don't know why you still like Trump. If you like drama, then sure he's your man. If you want positive change for people in distressed industries, Trump's not going to deliver on his promises, and you should care about those promises if you disregard every other promise.
Apparently you see Trump as a man of strong opinions and actions, Kurt. I (and I think a lot of people posting here) see a dangerous, lazy, lying unprepared, destabilizing and destructive man.

Interesting and reasonable conservative view of Trump, although the author brushes over Trump's obvious flaws and contribution to the nation's divisiveness. One Liberal Has Ignored Current Events Since November 2016. What Has He Truly Missed?Erik Hagerman is the poster child for post-2016 liberal angst. Unlike the many Americans who vowed to move to Canada or France or some other foreign locale if Donald Trump won the presidency, Hagerman has made good on a vow he made in connection with the election. As the New York Times reported in a front-page feature article, Hagerman and all who wish to have contact with him adhere to “the blockade.” That’s the way he refers to his refusal to read, listen to, or watch any news about what’s going on in the world. While he does read about the weather and discusses the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team with his mother, pretty much everything else is taboo, making it difficult for the 53-year-old retired Nike executive and former digital-shopping tech for Walmart and Disney to converse with most people. But since he has never married and lives alone on an Ohio farm, where he works on art projects and reclaiming wetlands, it isn’t all that much of a problem. If it means he must wear headphones blasting white noise while in a nearby town for a morning cup of coffee lest he have any inadvertent contact with other humans, Hagerman thinks that’s an acceptable price to pay. (He used to listen to music but found that the gaps between songs allowed some words and phrases uttered by people sitting at nearby tables to filter in.) https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/03/erik-hagerman-media-blackout-what-has-he-missed/

Sorry if someone already posted about this, but I can't keep up with the mishigas... ICE Spokesman Resigns, Saying He Could No Longer Spread Falsehoods for Trump AdministrationA spokesman for United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement has resigned, saying that he could no longer “bear the burden” of spreading falsehoods on behalf of the Trump administration. The spokesman, James Schwab, who had worked for the agency’s San Francisco Division, told news outlets Monday that his decision was prompted by false statements made by the agency on Feb. 27 and repeated by Attorney General Jeff Sessions last week. The statements criticized the mayor of Oakland, Libby Schaaf, for her decision last month to warn city residents that a raid by federal immigration agents targeting roughly 1,000 people was imminent. The agency’s deputy director, Thomas D. Homan, said that Ms. Schaaf’swarning had helped “864 criminal aliens and public safety threats” to evade capture in the raid. ...Mr. Schwab said in interviews, first with The San Francisco Chronicle and then with CNN, that he had been frustrated by the remarks, and had quit “because I didn’t want to perpetuate misleading facts.” “I asked them to change the information,” he told The Chronicle, referring to the 864 people to whom the statement alluded. “I told them that the information was wrong, they asked me to deflect, and I didn’t agree with that. Then I took some time and I quit.” He explained that the enforcement agency would have been unlikely to capture all of the roughly 1,000 undocumented immigrants in the area that it had targeted, and that it was incorrect to identify those who were not detained as threats to public safety. “We were never going to pick up that many people,” he said. “To say that 100 percent are dangerous criminals on the street, or that those people weren’t picked up because of the misguided actions of the mayor, is just wrong.” Mr. Schwab did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Tuesday. He resigned last week, according to CNN. “I just couldn’t bear the burden — continuing on as a representative of the agency and charged with upholding integrity, knowing that information was false,” he told CNN, adding that in his 16 years of experience in government he had never been asked to deflect when he knew something was inaccurate.
