Islander? You sound just like my partner and you're both right.
Pester them, Phin. I'm nearly ready to get my own thing going again because I hate pestering and my story is a little different than yours. My partner, whom I admire so much, tells me to pester them, too. I have. A little. I should do more. She's told me stories of people that showed her company so much persistence, they hired them even though they didn't think they'd be qualified.

Beaker wrote: That sucks. Consider it an omen to how they actually treat the staff their. If you hired on, perhaps you would soon discover you were better off not in their employ. Decent firms / HR departments don't treat their applicants in this fashion.
Or, they are just busy. They are hiring, which indicates more work than staff available at the time. Yes it's bad form, but a bit of understanding instead of jumping to a conclusion might get a job filled, then they will have time to call all the other applicants back.

Agreed. I've gotten a couple positions by just being persistant (nicely) with companies. Actually, this job came about by me bugging the guy for ~4 months. Eventually he combined a couple of roles to make a slot for me. In retrospect, I don't know that it was the best path, but it's working out now.

Other times they are just busy as hell and have 23 things to do and time for 18, this is why they are hiring. Call back, pester, leave messages. Until they tell you to bugger off, I'd keep it up. It shows persistance and that you are still interested.

phineas wrote:I interviewed for a job on a Friday. They said they'd decide by the end of the next week. Late the next Friday afternoon I emailed the interviewer to touch base. Was told they'd know "in a day or two". Another week went by; heard nothing. Half-way through another week and still not a peep from the interviewer.
With all the time having passed, it seems likely I didn't get it but I've gotta say "wtf" to the deafening silence. Really bad form, really unprofessional, really disappointing to be left hanging. Needs to be there. A better memorial than that stupid flame, anyway. This was real, it happened, and people need to know where and when, at least, if not exactly who or why.

First of all, thank you! I'm glad I my blog is entertaining people.
And about the donations? Well, those don't go to anything in particular, and I'm not asking for them. In fact, that whole donation button in general is kind of pointless. Its just there in case anybody wants to help support the website (it costs money to maintain my blog) and make somebody happy ;).
Thanks, Spencer Well, he gets points for being prompt.
