It is hokey, but fun. Apparently, Harrison Ford said to George Lucas about the script of the first film: "George, you can type this sh*t, but you sure as hell can't say it." My son (who is 6) loves the first three movies. He doesn't like the later ones as much.

So we borrowed the first 4 eps of Star Wars... our kids have never seen any of them. The first one (IV)(A New Hope) is so.... hokey.
But that's okay. What I'm really struck by is how it's obviously (mostly) film and film effects, pre-digital. Also, just now starting Empire Strikes Back, and watching that text scroll at the beginning? What crappy typography!
