I don't think you will ever get any better video footage than that. This guy's crazy. He got the volcano bug when he went to report on the Ruapehu eruptions and just happened to mistime it to be near the crater when a large eruption started. He's been looking for the same kick ever since. Certainly grateful for the vicarious pleasure he gives everyone.

Here's the Ruapheu footage (he's got loads of others on Youtube, Etna is particularly good, 1500 m tall lava fountains.)

Nothing so illustrious, dear man. I was merely visiting my big sister who lives on the big island.....and she was taking us to all the scenic spots. We saw where the lava trail was falling into the sea with a constant plume of steam rising up into the air.
Hawaii is BEAUTIFUL.

My sister, who lives on the island of Hawaii (aka the "Big Island"), just posted this on Facebook. (Embedding anywhere else is disabled)
The volcano on her island is now active again, and the crater at Volcanoes Nat'l Park collapsed.

yep. it's stopped erupting and there is a crater lake in the new crater. There is a possibility of a renewed outburst but it is much lower than in recent months . Seismic activity is low which suggests that there is no new magma rising to the surface.
