I love when nick names are terms of endearment. It gave me a kick to hear her call you "Tater"
She gave me that nickname from our meetup at Gibson's B.C.
I volunteered to peel potatoes for the dinner.
You see... I'd rather hang with women than men. They were all in the kitchen prepping for dinner.
She and hobbitt were in attendance at our wedding, but we gave the marryin' duties to Ali's brother Aaron. But if he had said no, we would have asked her for sure.
I was 50-50 on that one but I knew they were there. Good to see you, despite the circumstances. Just like a normal funeral that way.
She "married" at least a couple of the guys in that photo... 3? Allnn & Ali, Schlabby, Abhijit, right? More?

Iâm so gutted right now. BHD was a genuinely wonderful person. Her generosity was enormous, her heart was warm and sincere, her humor was good, not mean. She was one of the first people to greet me on this site and Iâve missed her presence here. She comforted me when I was going through health issues. She always chastised me when we were in the area and didnât visit. I so wish we had visited more. Iâm going to miss her, tremendously. I know she is physically gone now but her wonderful, generous and kind deeds have made a lasting impact on my life, Eâs life, and doubtless, many others here.
It's a rainy grey morning here, appropriate for the sadness. C (and M) was the first Peep I met in real life. We had chatted on-line a bunch when they first were moving out here. They moved to one of our favorite little towns, so it was natural we would meet up. We looked them up whenever we went over and often had lunch at Sirens or Banana Leaf, We did the seasonal holiday stuff - I always loved Mike's Calendars and cool little crafts. Covid made everything harder and we had gotten rid of our boat, so we made fewer trips over the last couple years. I was arranging a work trip to town when I heard the news. Schedules didn't align and she wasn't up to a last meet up. This was probably the right decision - I'd be a mess, and no one wants to see that. She will always be fondly remembered as the one who always had space for other people, always had understanding, and who could always find the time for you. She was RP's Momma bear.
She truly was. I never had the chance to meet her, but she was always a kind, wise, blunt presence in my life, and it meant more than I can say.
20+ years ago I lurked in the (one) Forum for weeks or months, reading posts from the bird people (BHD, BCNH) and Jrz & Buzz and so many others but BHD went out of her way to say "hey you're new here, welcome!" and it was all downhill from there...
Same for me. Lucked for a while before diving in. Her & NWG & the rest of the gang welcomed me, PMâd me, basically hooked me on a line & showed me the ropes by being just awesome people.
Two decades ago; I wouldn't meet BHD and Hobbitt in person for a couple of years after this was taken, but the idea that they invited total strangers (e-friends) to stay in their home and celebrate with them changed our trajectory. Thank you both.
We sure kept Radio Paradise Comments busy back in those days...Such a great group of people and I bet there isn't more than one or two, if that, that Cathy didn't touch their life in a special way.

CFW was 6 months old at Reinstock... (Boosie photo)
Still THE best meetup ever.
