Amazon is giving itunes a run for their money. If you download, the files go "into the cloud" and then you go to your cloud to download them to your computer. So then you can listen to them from anywhere, including your phone.

Well with the iPad and the iCloud I considered buying some music from iTunes.

So I settle on Vince Gill's newest "Guitar Slinger" iTunes wants 11.99 for it. Before buying I check Amazon - they are selling the CD for 8.99 and the MP3 album for 8.99.

So I checked several other albums that are listed in the top sellers.

Ambition by Wale - iTunes 13.99 Amazon CD 9.99
Under the Mistletoe by J. Bieber - iTunes 14.99 Amazon CD 11.99
For the Record by Mirand Lambert - iTunes 13.99 Amazon CD 9.99

I can get a physical copy of the album that is mine with higher SQ for less - where is the incentive to use iTunes?

They rejected all my John Frusciante & Captain Beefheart (to name but a few) which hurt my feelings. I tried the Beefheart upload before his passing on so I was not trying to cash in on the death of "celebrity" either.

Radio Paradise, good for my ears, bad for my iTunes account.

So we buy stuff (songs, apps etc) from the iTunes store a lot. In fact they're offering the first Harry Potter movie now for $4.99 so we got that just a few days ago, no problems at all. Yesterday, we bought the Disc of HP7.1 and it comes with a free download, so we went to iTunes, punched in the download code and instantly got a Session Timeout. If you search "iTunes Session Timeout" you'll get a crap-ton of helpful suggestions with replies "It worked great! Thanks!" but I just spent 2 hours changing time zones, DNS settings, iTunes passwords etc etc. and none of it worked. There were also a lot of comments saying "be sure you're logged into the iTunes store" well duh, we just bought a movie and it worked so... well. *cough* we changed email addresses a month or so ago. We changed it at PayPal but iTunes still had the old account email. NOTE that this did not prevent us in any way buying and paying for purchases... but if we want something FREE we have to have it all squared away Once I changed the payment info to the correct email, it all went just fine. What a cluster.

Apple allows you to authorize up to 5 computers to play your iTunes library.
So what happens in a few years when you buy that 6th computer in the series.... Can you start over? I ask because we are now on computer #3. Still have computer #2, but computer #1 is long gone...
