Hi - Y O U  M U S T  WATCH :- BAGDAD CAFE (aka Out of Rosenhiem) (1987)
GREAT STUFF I loved it (which reminds me, I need to get that dvd on my collection too!!)

SYNOPSIS: The film is a somewhat surreal comedy set in a remote truck-stop café and motel in the Mojave Desert. The film begins when German tourist Jasmin (Sägebrecht) has a fight with her husband while driving across the desert. She storms out of the car and happens upon the truck stop, run by the tough-as-nails and short-tempered Brenda (Pounder). The cafe is visited by an odd assortment of characters, including a strange ex-Hollywood set-painter (Palance), and a glamorous tattoo artist (Kaufmann). Through a passion for cleaning and magic tricks, Jasmin gradually transforms the café and all the people in it.

topsyturvy

Topsy-Turvy.

Don't know if this is on Netflix though.

One of my all time favorite movies. Directed by Mike Leigh, surprisingly.

The Counterfeiters

A movie based upon the true story of Jewish prisoners in concentration camp forced to counterfeit British and USA currency by the Nazis and the interesting moral dilemma this brought about.  I give it five stars.

This BBC series was a stitch! Hang in there through the first couple of episodes; you'll soon be hooked. It gets better, too, although season 5 (or was it 6?) was a little off-putting as new writers came aboard and some of the characters you fell in love with left the show. It comes back around, though, for the final season.

They could have used subtitles at times, though, in order to wade through some THICK Scottish brogue! It's a minor quibble, however.

This was so good they made it into a fair movie with Russell Crowe, but the original series was five times better!

I remember watching this on BBC America and being riveted to the screen.

More good acting in this than you could shake a stick at!

I second Dogville & Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Also Garden State which has a great soundtrack (much of which has been played on RP).

If you like ESOTSM you might also like "The Science of Sleep" by the same director (Michel Gondry).

I also enjoyed "Cashback" by Sean Ellis (the movie, not the short film which I haven't seen) and Juno.
