âIn light of the Presidentâs statement about cancellation of my government contracts, @SpaceX will begin decommissioning its Dragon spacecraft immediately.â
Muskâs decision to decommission the spacecraft comes after Trump took to Truth Social and said on Thursday:
âThe easiest way to save money in our budget, billions and billions of dollars, is to terminate Elonâs governmental subsidies and contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didnât do it!â
âMaximum Pressureâ: The State Department conducted a monthslong campaign to push a small African country to help Muskâs satellite internet company, records and interviews show.
âRam This Throughâ: Working closely with executives at Starlink, the U.S. government has made a global push to help expand Muskâs business empire in the developing world.
âCrony Capitalismâ: Diplomats said the events were an alarming departure from standard practice â because of both the tactics used and the person who would benefit most from them.
The Guerrilla Marketing Campaign Against Elon Musk As Teslaâs profits drop, a group called Everyone Hates Elon is going viral for plastering London with fake advertisements for the company, infiltrating a car showroom, and inviting the public to trash a Model S.
You're right, but that sort of logical thinking very early on has come at a pretty high price (personally... thought the early insanity in the late teens was too much ).
FWIW... Elon would likely never compare Toyota and Tesla. He's gonna ignore the hardware, and jump right to robotics, automation, AI and software. The call the other day focused on the robot army coming to take the manufacturing jobs that are coming back to the US. MAGA baby!
He actually has a point there. There is a lot of technology that can be leveraged out and used in different areas under license. That is a valid are reasonable model - Tesla itself (when they were a company prior to musk declaring himself a 'founder') used a platform licensed from Lotus. It probably does help their valuation, but there is no justification for a 110 P/E unless you think that nearly all 4 wheel transportation would shift to a tesla platform in the future. The robots, so far, are slightly less autonomous than his cars. He's a hype machine (not necessarily a bad thing), we'll see what the future really brings.
Tesla is a meme stock. The price is not supported by any 'normal' metric of valuation. The P/E is over 100 still and the price is half what it was a month ago. Meanwhile, Toyota makes money, makes a lot of hybrids, makes progress on their autonomous driving (without accidents), and has a P/E of 7.

I saw comments that people have bought into the idea that the company is now focused on Robots and other "non-car" things. I wouldn't be surprised if he has his AI company merge with Tesla to use the veil of AI as protection against his cars.
This was an interesting new scandal, which doesn't surprise anyone....
How to turn your 50k warranty into a 40k warranty without even trying.

Q1 earnings are out. They are bad. 400M$ in operating income, 595M$ in regulatory credits. Profits down, sales down, and we haven't yet seen the full impact of him pissing off a good portion of his customer base. Also, for all the newly minted fans that love a rugged individualist pulling himself up by his bootstraps, that regulatory credit number is government subsidies. If not for tax money directed his way, they would have negative revenue.
Somewhere way back in this thread there are people calling him a business genius and saying 'just wait, you'll see'.
So the stock is up 6% today.
