It's strange in a way, I love animals but my partner is far more attached to them, and they to her. They quickly become part of her DNA. But somehow she is accepting when they move on.  Maybe it is the hard shell she developed from her upbringing, but I am in awe that she is able to keep doing it over again.

I am simpler. Perhaps it is a character flaw or my own shell, but for example, the surprising bond I developed with our cat, when we were stuck with each other for almost a year, may be enough to sustain me. I do love current cat, when he isn't scaring me by disappearing for days. The dogs I love seem to become abstract when they leave the earth. Yeah, a character flaw.

There is no one way to love and we can only hope to be comfortable with the joy and pain of ours.

Six similar coins can be arranged around a central coin of the same radius so that each coin makes contact with the central one (and touches both its neighbors without a gap), but seven cannot be so arranged. This makes 6 the answer to the two-dimensional kissing number problem.

Good to know.
