Claims about the involvement of anti-fascist activists in protests of racism show the many ways false information spreads inside communities online.

You've raised excellent points, and I've been thinking about what you said for a few hours. I would guess that this defense of looting (not necessarily rioting, but looting) is based on the fact that the moderates have done nothing; in fact MLK warned about the white moderates.

As for revenge: looting may look like revenge, but it's nothing like the lynchings and systemic racism that Black people have had to deal with. Jones is saying, "We just want equality; we're not looking to murder white people the way white people have murdered us."

I think it makes it easier to understand if you look at it all as a form of discourse (bear with me Lazy).. but generally, you only get some form of social cohesion when you are all on the same page, when there is something you all agree on and are willing to make compromises for in the interest of social cohesion. The silent majority (the moderates) too frequently assume that this-thing-we-all-agree-on is a given. But it isn't. It's a product of social interaction, discourse, listening to each other, taking account of each others needs and wants and weighing it all up from an inter-subjective perspective, which requires its own mechanisms (like voting in a democracy, etc.).

When people jump off the bus and start looting or flouting democratic conventions or rules of procedure for that matter (yes, Trump is as guilty of this as any looter is of ignoring property rights) then you have a problem. The basic message is I couldn't care less about current society. Which is in itself a message that society as a whole either engages with or ignores at its peril.

Trying to balance the various merits or wrongs of various actions (two lootings vs. one lynching for instance) is fraught with peril and not really the point. The point is, where do we want to go, what do we want to be together and how do we get there?   Either we sit down together and hammer this out or we can forget civil society.

maybe not enough, but not nothing.
i speculate moderates usually are ok with "well enough," unless there is a compelling case for change, as there is with BLM
but they get off the bus when violence comes around, and might reluctantly return to well enough.
i get the anger behind rioting and looting,
but still can't get beyond two wrongs dont make it right, or eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

Yes, I know you like to quote tweets and other statements without attribution other than a link.

I don't care if Shaun King introduced Bernie Sanders. He's still a grifter and should not be taken seriously, and please, anyone reading this, do not send any money for any reason to any cause that Shaun King promotes. (Find the actual cause and send money directly there.)

Here's a protester that's neither looting or vandalizing.  Not quite sure what they expected other than getting some fresh air.

POLICE BRUTALITY!!

Yes.

They are a gross form white supremacy.
