Hope everybody is enjoying the solstice and staying safe.
Question: Will the SARS-CoV-2 UK variant and Republic of South Africa variant scare folks silly into behaving better?
In passing I would not be surprised if the variant is already circulating in North America. Evolution should unfold the same here as it does elsewhere. I don't think it is a big deal but if it scares people into behaving more responsibly then it is a good thing.
I work for a small office, there are only about a dozen of us. Just heard that a fourth person has the virus. People ignoring safety guidelines, and having house parties. Thankfully, we are still working remotely. This should guarantee that to continue indefinitely.
we have about 180 employees over 3 shifts. we've had 18 cases so far, mostly night/weekend shift in the warehouse. 3 cases in the front office have us a bit edgy. Our dept. is right next to the front office.

sort of in that same boat
in the last four to five days a couple of breaches in extended families of co-workers
some of my business partners are home with mild to moderate symptoms

This "source" also advocates that the 2020 Prez election was stolen among other questionable positions.
Whatever it also states, I highlighted my points in the quote. Your nitpicking shows a need to criticize. No contribution to the point discussed there, sorry!
You confuse "nitpicking" with "pointing out that your source is a lunatic." Sorry!
Looks like it's time to push the ignore button. You've had enough tries.
Some people don't get that their slant is very apparent and then get the vapors when you call them on it. They come here just to parrot the company line...Enough, please.

I was thinking the same thing. See how that works?

Strangely, no governments seem to be working out treatment plans for their populations, instead all seem to be going for vaccines which don't seem to promise anything other than big bucks for Big-Pharma. Are the people irrelevant to our leaders?
The vaccines "seem to promise" efficacy rates over 90%, as high as 95%. "Seem" is an operative word of course, but still far from not promising "anything". As far as governments not working out treatment plans, maybe it just "seems" that way to some people. The US Dept. of Health and Human Services has several therapeutics (called "countermeasures" by them) publicized and made available and others in development, some through FDA Emergency Use. The Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA - a branch of HHS) has invested in numerous programs of countermeasures: therapeutics for COVID, ventilators, immunomodulators or therapeutics targeting lung repair, pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis for COVID exposure, respiratory protective devices, etc.. These programs started before last Spring. Obviously, news of a vaccine or "cure" is bound to get more coverage than news of therapies and treatments.
We are living in a day in age where social media “fact-checkers” are patrolling the internet calling into question information, science, opinion and testimony from countless amounts of doctors and scientists, as well as independent media outlets who source this information, simply because it opposes the information that we are getting from the World Health Organization(WHO) for example, or other government health authorities.
One great example to illustrate this point is Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), a drug, according to many, that can help treat COVID-19 patients.
This idea has been a common theme throughout the pandemic, which begs the question, if it’s true, why wasn’t the drug administered and made available for doctors to use and treat COVID patients during this pandemic? Why was it ridiculed by mainstream media and why did Facebook fact-checkers claim that Hydroxychloroquine was not useful, and possibly dangerous? Facebook fact checker Health Feedback, for example, states that there is no evidence that hydroxychloroquine can cure or prevent COVID-19.
Do governments really execute the will of the people? When will we draw the line? Is it really justifiable for people who don’t get vaccinated to lose their rights and freedoms they were accustomed to prior to the pandemic? Why are so many doctors and scientists who oppose these measures being censored and unacknowledged?

Developing antibodies in the herd is more valuable than a vaccine, imho. If something is effectively treatable then we should try and find the way(s) to do it. If nothing else to treat those for whom the vaccine does not work. Or is not available.
Harvest the anti bodies and distribute them rather than a vaccine. Hell of a lot safer.
I've just come to learn that the vaccine is not safe for me as I have had a very violent reaction to a flu vaccine several years ago. The CDC says people like me should not take the vaccine. Oh well. Been flying without a net for a very long time anyway. I will just continue to wash my hands like I always do, continue my C, D and zinc as I have for years and take comfort that my blood type is O, which seems to be the best of all the other types in dealing with CV.
Obla di, Obla da ...
My understanding is that the mRNA vaccine, and maybe others don't so much produce antibodies but antigens so that your body rapidly produces the correct antibodies when it recognizes the covid virus. I might not have that quite correct, but harvesting antibodies doesn't seem to be viable. Besides, not sure why that would be any safer.
