We are masking up again. A worker in the hotel quarantine program got the 'rona (as SFW would say). Family with the variant from Britain opened their door to get their food at the same time as the people across the hall did. People across the hall caught it. Spooky.
I'm doing ok. very mild symptoms so far. Buzz is also sick now.
I assume everyone in our house had it, but I'm the only one who tested positive. No one else has reported the no-smell thing tho so maybe they escaped.
Prior belief: I expected this to be a measurement issue. Apparently it is not.
Then I was hopeful that the drop in C-19 cases in India was due to diet, in particular, curry and cumin. No such luck.
The article did point out some benefits of having a fast rate of demographic growth and having much of your population living in impoverished squalor and dirt. Any takers?
It seems to be widely varying experiences depending on which state you are in. In SC they have a list of all risky patients in chronological order with their vaccines waiting on them. My parents went into their local Ingles and they were waiting for them stating my mom was top on their list and they have already had theirs.
All in all...NJ seems to be getting their act together.
Wife and daughter received 2nd shot instructions with specific date and time information, exactly 28 days after the first Pfizer dose. Family member had yesterday's NJ megasite appt. canceled by snow, and received specific instructions for this coming Sunday instead (without any action on her part). Total time including the 15 min. observation period is 60 to 90 mins. It's not great...but it's better than anything I've heard in other places.
I'm also in NJ, have received email stating I'm eligible. Curious, were you guys contacted by NJ for your appointment? Or did you register for the appointment yourselves?
Once you got the email...then you have to search out and make the initial appointments. My wife's appointment was through diligence... She looked and looked and looked. Finally, one morning I went on the site for her, and found an appointment 2 hours from that moment. She went from nothing to round 1 complete in 3 hours.
The one thing that NJ is screwing up IMO is the initial appointment scheduling.
There are a bunch of options that originally didn't integrate...so you had to register a few times. No idea where you're located...but I got my appt. (April) through the Burlington County site registration....https://webapps.virtua.org/ext...

There's a growing feeling that counties should just stop trying to schedule anything and stick people first come first served as fast as they can. Once the vaccine's not in short supply, I think that's what they'll all do. Trying to make it all fair and appropriate is slowing things down...
Now that most primary care folks should have gotten their 2nd dose, it seems like that might be a good idea.
I know not many are into this, but do check out herbs for helping with lingering symptoms. Many like resveratrol (the good stuff in wine) and cats claw are very good at addressing the cytokine storms, reducing inflammation, and have antimicrobial properties, with little side effects/interactions (with the exception of blood thinners).
And where does this info come from ?
I'm 1A and still waiting for an appointment for my first dose in Ohio. As are most in my particular occupation. So far from what I can figure, you either work for a hospital or are well connected. Everyone else, well it just sucks to be you ...
Took my 84 yr old dad and his 96 yr old husband to get vaccinated at Disneyland yesterday. A word of advice for anyone that is going to be going through this experience. DONT get there too early. It will not matter and you are just waiting out on the pavement with no chairs for a longer period of time. Put your loved one in a wheelchair no matter how vain they are. You will speed through the last leg of the journey much quicker! TAKE WATER, snacks, an umbrella and a jacket and/or sunscreen.
Trust in the system. Although it seems daunting, no one does a line better and faster than Disneyland. We arrived at 12:45(due to Dad's need to take control.) Our appointment was at 2:15PM. We had to wait to line up. We were out by 3:30. Had he not insisted on going so early the process would have only taken us an hour and a half.
Now we wait again for 4 weeks for round 2.
Did they prick them with a spindle? (that joke never gets old)

So do they do this inside the park proper, or just in the plaza between Disneyland and California Adventure? DID YOU SEE GOOFY?
It is actually in the overload parking lot for employees off of Clementine. Oh that's another thing. There ARE NO SIGNS for some strange reason. We circled the park twice then out of frustration and my dad making me insane, pulled into Downtown Disney to ask where the event was. Had they just put up a few signs we would've found it no problem. No cast members visited. No vendors selling anything, not even a balloon guy. My dad asked where is lollipop after his shot and they laughed saying couldn't give you one if I had them....COVID!

that does or could explain some of it however the disparity is ginormous
Temperature, genetics, lifestyle, alternative vaccinations (BCG Vaccinations), and prior exposure to deadly viruses (and mask-wearing) likely all contribute. There is likely some under-reporting as well, but the initial assumptions that "something must be terribly wrong" in the reporting, while reasonable, might not be the case.
