Thought i would add my +1.
I was struggling to get my phone to play RP in the van.
It was actually disconnecting the BT when i played RP.
I was very sad.

However, 1.3 worked for me too.

A couple of the others worked until i switched off the engine, then the problem was there again when i restarted.
But not with 1.3.
That just worked perfectly.

Yes,  that is not currently available.
Was a bit awkward as each device uses different combination of  artist, title,  album,  and  arist - album

Eureka! Bluetooth AVRCP version 1.3 worked, thank you so much. 1.5 and 1.6 did not work.  Old car: 2012 Toyota RAV4 EV.

Thanks! I will try developer options. I had to enable user selection of that mode from an administrator account first, and that will take some time to propagate to my phone. But when I can get that working, I will report back.

As far as I know everything is working correctly  but there has always been some compatibility issues.
With some phones working fine with some stereos and not others and vice versa.

Generally the issue will be phone wide and affect all media apps.  But not always.  

For the more adventurous there are some things people have found that can help.

- If you enable developer options on the phone you can override the  bluetooth avcrp  version.   Some people have had success changing that to 1.3 or 1.6
- Disable battery optimization on the bluetooth service if it's being optimized.
