Got back from Iowa this week. Went to a town hall and we got this picture of my boy, his son BRUUUUUCE Nesta (named for Springsteen and Marley), his girl, and some senator lady who was pretty interesting to listen to.

What is Elizabeth Warren's position on increasing federal excise taxes on gasoline and diesel?
Don't have a clue but they made a terrible mistake at the end of the energy crisis. When oil prices dropped they should have switched to a percentage tax that would have reduced costs in the short run but kept up with costs in the long run. Afterall, the cost to government increases when oil prices go up so it is a huge hit to the deficit. Especially when you maintain as large a military as the US.
Does Elizabeth Warren understand the concepts of adverse selection and moral hazard?
She was a Harvard Law professor focusing in contract, commercial and bankruptcy laws and was a driving force in the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau so yeah, I'm pretty sure she understands both concepts.
Just finished watching the debate—a bit chaotic but exciting and informative.
Looks like the DNC and Wall Street have made up their minds and Warren is the chosen one this year which if you are a true progressive should give you pause. Congrats to her I guess, but I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to be her for the next year or so;
I was so hoping that Biden was just taking one for the team: popping his head up from the foxhole and drawing fire, while the rest of the candidates slip away without too much attention until they'd sorted out who was really running...
Looks like the DNC and Wall Street have made up their minds and Warren is the chosen one this year which if you are a true progressive should give you pause. Congrats to her I guess, but I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to be her for the next year or so; she is going to have to suck up to the left and battle the Donald at the same time and neither of those propositions will be pleasant, but hey the lust for power will drive her through like the rest. All of these people were born for it.
Warren is sharp and articulate. I am a little concerned that she is too ambitious in her expressed desire to radically expand the US welfare state.
In my view Democrats should stay away from free college tuition (for a bunch of reasons) and focus on universal single payer medical care.
But perhaps she has to make ambitious promises in order to get elected?
Trump is going to leave a far more indebted US federal government. Double national gasoline taxes and there might be a little more fiscal room to play with. But then ramping up excise/green/Pigouvian/carbon taxes on gasoline and diesel would be the political kiss of death, no cierto?.
