Kurt,

There is no way to calculate alternatives not taken, so specifics are always going to be estimates, not facts.

That said, there are a few simple ideas that would definitely have saved lives.

If you want points for closing the borders early and bravely...fine...but how can someone express the difficulting in fighting an airborne contagion (in Feb...on tape) and then spend the next 7 months making the wearing of a mask a political statement?  The science is clear, yet he refuses to tell people to do something that would save lives AND improve the economy?  Making it worse...he has the nerve to suggest he is following the science.  It's gaslighting 101.

He tells Woodward ON THE RECORD...knowing he's being taped....that it seems to be more dangerous to kids than first thought, and then months later says "kids do fine" and "open the schools".

Nobody can tell you how many Americans would have died if anything had been different, but nearly everyone in the county knows that the number would have been lower with a leader who actually cared about the health of the people in the country.

Literally no one has said that, so you can put the idea aside and maybe not be so upset about something that didn't really happen. There are some real things that are worth being angry about.

(Like, he knew how bad the pandemic was and lied about it to you and the rest of us. It's more widespread, and you're in more danger - especially you and yours - because of how he didn't handle things when he should've.)

the problem with trump isnt the pandemic, or the debt, or the tax cut, or slashing of regulations, or trade wars, or drone wars....
it's that he is a horribly divisive and corrosive leader, that thrives on lies (admittedly usually not big ones, like bush/cheney) and chaos.
he has contributed more to the growing bifurcation of this country, than any other politician

Good thing President Trump is careful with his phraseology so as not to cause public panic.

You regularly bitch and moan about how people here ignore your posts. That's partly because you forget or ignore people's posts, especially when they go against Trump or rebut your claims. And you just repeat the same debunked crap, again and again.

So now you want me to wipe your ass for you and go over AGAIN the plans that were in place for Trump to respond to a pandemic. We've been over this before, Kurt. Maybe you should get checked out for dementia and memory loss.

First, though:

"I'm sick and tired of the insinuation that no one would have died if someone other than Trump was POTUS. Really sick and tired of it."

I never posted ANYTHING like that. Trump is not entirely to blame. Public health programs in many countries including the US have become neglected and under-funded. Few countries have handled the coronavirus well. Trump's lies about the contagiousness and virulence of the disease and his refusal to put forth programs about quarantining, social distancing, mask wearing, testing and contact tracing made things far worse here than they should have been.

Number of deaths that Trump's incompetence caused as opposed to number of deaths if we'd had a competent president? No idea. Maybe someone's measured it. If you're so hot to know, google for yourself. For once.

Back to the matter of plans for pandemic response that Bush II and Obama left for the Trump admin, and the Trump admin's failure to use them.

Bush II and Obama both realized that the US was not prepared for the onset of a pandemic. Obama's administration worked on the efforts of the Bush II administration to simulate the US's response to a pandemic and determine the weak spots in the federal government's response. Obama's transition team briefed members of Trump's transition team on the results of that tabletop exercise and gave Trump's team a playbook on how to respond to a pandemic.

Here's some background on the Obama admin's work on pandemic preparedness, work that it started in 2009:

Read the KHN piece just below. It should make you understand (or just FVCK|NG REMEMBER) that Obama's admin left detailed plans for the Trump admin and briefed his team.

Evidence Shows Obama Team Left A Pandemic ‘Game Plan’ For Trump Administration

Here is the playbook

Here's another work by the Obama admin on pandemic prediction and modeling

Moscow Mitch eats crow and retracts claim that Obama's admin left no playboo

Here's how Trump gutted the Obama admin's plans for responding to the pandemic.

How Trump Gutted Obama’s Pandemic-Preparedness Systems

Former officials: Trump’s reshuffling of positions and departments, focus on business solutions, downgrading of science, left the country dangerously unprepared for an unprecedented pandemic.

Other groups weighed in with plans to contain the coronavirus after it came to the US, while the Trump admin did little to nothing:

Good to know that you're at peace with your situation and mortality.

I hope that some day you'll realize that other people are in deep sh*^  in terms of their health, homes and jobs because of Trump. Trump's failings have killed Americans.

You face your own problems squarely. Yet you run away from talking about the problems that Trump has created and fails to address.

This country is in crisis and will stay there as long as Trump is president. He is incompetent. He lies all the time. He is incapable of leadership and unifying the country. He refuses to grasp reality.

So spare me your BS about antifa, immigrant hordes, Obamagate and whatever other crap you parrot from Fox and Flunkies. It's all distraction from the pandemic and economic crisis.

Not an obsession. Death from Covid19 is an unescapable fact in the US.
.
You can try to distract with pointless crap like Biden's plagiarism from 1987, but I will make you admit that Trump lied to Americans about the dangers of the coronavirus and completely fvck3d up the containment, testing and tracing of Covid19. Trump has killed Americans.

It's not entirely Trump's fault, but he made the pandemic FAR WORSE. And it's still not over.

I'm going to keep pushing that back at you from here to November 3—and beyond if necessary.

"Me, I'm putting all of this on the CCP"

You do that. Even though you're in a very high risk situation to catch Covid19, given your age, your cancer treatments, your job as an optician dealing with people in close quarters. Your MJ use might increase your risk as well. If you're obese, you're at an even higher risk.

The coronavirus came to the US months and months ago. Trump could have contained it but he RAN AWAY from responsibility. China didn't have anything to do with our ending the quarantine too early, or forcing people like you back to high-contact work by Trump's refusal to provide more financial support, etc.

Trump is putting your health and life on the line. Don't blame China.

Yeah, I am high risk.  I'm also already in triple overtime from cancer.  Only 20% of me make it past 5 years.  So I have thought a lot about death and dying.  Said it before and I can tell you right here and right now, again, I am not afraid of dying.  I am in no hurry to leave, but when my time is up, it's up.  Had an NDE during my transplant.  Wasn't scary, just was.  Told them I wasn't ready and to go away.  They did and I am still here.  Make of it what you will.

And I wasn't forced back to work because of anything Trump did, other than get the economy going again.  I was called back to work.  In Ohio, I did have a choice not to return to work due to fear of safety due to me being over 65 and high risk.  Without that, had I turned down the call to come back, my bennies would have been terminated because I refused work.  And the bennies don't last forever.  My employer gave me the choice, with the knowledge that if I did not comeback then, someone was needed and that I would be replaced.  There would be no hard feelings.  Just is what it was.

But I decided to do it and get back in the saddle one more time.  I'm not starting over again somewhere else.  I have to work until I drop so I am not going to rely on the government for a handout to keep my sorry ass alive beyond what Social Security gives me.  I must make up that difference all by myself.

I've already had convo's within my med circle and others that going back to work under these circumstances was not much different from going back to work after my stem cell transplant with a totally wiped out immune system and facing the public at large with a far worse hygiene standard and awareness in the general public than we have now.  And I grew up in the "duck and cover" days of the Cold War where you feared at times to go to bed and face another day of possible nuclear annihilation in the morning.  You still had to get up and go to school or work while you waited for the end that never came.  It did not excuse you from not doing your homework.  It seems for some reason that it might now, however.

And I am not obese.  Since this stuff jumped off on March 15 when I was hospitalized the day later under possible CV 19, I have lost about 35 lbs.  I weighed in at 181 yesterday, the lowest since college days in the early 70's.  And for the weed ?  I have been partaking for over 55 years.  I made a conscious decision to not live my life in fear of random testing over 30 years ago and sought employment accordingly remaining true to myself.   A little too late to change anything there and not coming anytime soon.

I'm just going to put one foot in front of the other, rely on my smarts and some common sense which has gotten me this far already and land on my feet until I don't.

So what's your story and your plan ?  Are you going to hide in a corner rolled up in a ball, weep and drool like you seem to be doing already and wait for Biden and your party to rescue you ?  I am dying to know ...
