Chris estimated the weight at 11 kg.  Sounds pretty damn healthy to me.  And Chris strikes me as the kind of person who would make accurate, useful weight estimates.

I would not  be worried about illness but rather having my forearm ripped off!    I am a rather fearless person and I NEVER panic when close to large, dangerous wild animals but Chris has much bigger cajones than I do.

So you've adopted a cat.   Good luck introducing him to Mianca and Frank... I guess they are cats, too. If Jasper has fleas, get him some Advantage and treat him before he gets inside with the others. A couple of drops on the top of the neck should get rid of them, and once a month is enough to have flea free cats.

I guess we've officially adopted the stray cat who has been driving Mianca and Frank crazy for the past year.
We named him Jasper. Can't tell if its a he or a she... I think he's a dude. He stays outside and we him a big bowl
of food everyday with some kitty vitties.  Might sneak in something for parasites prophylactically but he seems 
in pretty good nick. He must have fleas tho. He has bobbed tail and unusual black and grey short fur. Mellow as
can be but a great hunter no doubt. Jasper. He's cool.

We hike 12 months of the year in the Sage brush steppe in behind the house here in BC wildfire country.   From informal observations of coyote scat, I have concluded that up to 30% of the diet of coyotes consists of domestic cats.  Rodent hair and though most rare, mule deer hair, also show up in the scat.

Village residents might as well be directly feeding the coyotes.  

Funny about these cats.  I was always somewhat indifferent and always a little surprised when other folks' cats would jump up and sit on my lap.   Maybe the cats knew instinctively that I would not "women handle" them.   -hehe-

Anyhow, fast forward a decade or so.  The wife loves cats, I love the wife so what am I supposed to say even though I know perfectly well that cats and similar really hamper the ability to travel.   We made up for that by taking one of them on backpacking trips in the lower river canyons/valleys in the East Kootenay  district and once we took one a 10-day canoe trip in the southern portion of the Gwaii Haanas islands.  

Darn cats.  They all have their own little endearing personalities.   Framboise was a mid-hair Norwegian Forest Cat with opposable digits (Hemingway style).  She was smart, an all too excellent hunter, loved attention, demanded it constantly and loved to hang out outdoors or go on short walks.  

Tempest was a highly energetic male kitten who tore up the walls so much I had to plaster and paint several walls in the house twice!   He was very gentle and very kind to his older female sisters.   Yet, he could tangle full force with  visiting, aggressive male cats.   He also loved to hang out and would occasionally go for short walks too.

Yep. Coyotes love some cats, we used to lose a lot of them where we used to live fortunately there are not many coyotes in the area I live in now just foxes and they prefer to prey on the chickens which as long as you have your chicken pen tight is not a problem.  I think cats are to coyotes what bacon is to humans.{#Lol}  But let em live or die outside and free is our policy. We let nature and natural selection run its course. Just make sure everyone is fixed.{#Meditate}

We keep our cats indoors, 100%. Just too many things that can happen to them outside.

Now down to 'dossie' (numero dos) who happened to be the oldest.  Being old, she stuck close to home.

Still looking for the cats but, hey, we knew the odds.
