"The White House declared a âlidâ at 3:59 p.m., indicating that President Trump has no intentions of appearing in public today to make a statement about his loss. (He could still tweet his feelings at any moment.) "
That is something we all need to take action over. Absolutely appalling totalitarian rule.
So let us put this in context. A greater, more glorious USA came to light thanks to ethnic cleansing terrorism. campaigns. Canada's suppression of aboriginal peoples was a little less violent and little more subtle but the resource theft was still resource theft — on a grand scale.
In both the USA and Canada, draconian efforts were made to annihilate culture and forcibly assimilate aboriginals.
Would describe the USA and Canada as totalitarian nations?
Would you describe Israel as a totalitarian nation? What do you think about the discourse of cultural superiority that comes tripping off the tongues of Israelis, in particular West Bank settlers? The Hill Top Youths? Are not Muslims the enemy to be confronted at every turn?
Both the USA and Israel have nuclear weapons. Canada free-rides on the US nuclear umbrella. China has nuclear weapons.
What do you plan on doing about the fate of the Uyghurs? Sure, there is no doubt that their treatment is absolutely appalling.
Should we approach this issue the way many in North America have approached the issues of Chinese trade and investment policies with all kinds of lies and outrageous exaggerations?
Would you propose the demonization of China? If so, do you do that in recognition of the efficacy of American and Israeli kill ratios?
There is heart-warming, self-satisfying rhetoric and then there is actually getting the job done.
oh, wow. 1. Two wrongs never did make a right. I equally abhor what is going in Palestine. 2. Totalitarianism is not the prime cause here but merely secondary, in that no one is taking them to task for what they are doing. Neither internally or externally. Democracies are quite capable of monstrosities too. I am fully aware of that, but thank-you for the sermon. 3. I give a shit about who has nuclear weapons (I'm a New Zealander remember?) 4. That just about every country on the planet has skeletons in the cupboard should not neuter the moral arguments used to correct perceived wrongs, wherever they occur. 5. "Getting the job done" as you put it, cannot be about using force or coercion, which would be a) in vain and b) counterproductive. 6. Rather, I hope the planet is slowly moving away from crude nationalism and there is some emergent sense of a rules-based order that we can all agree on. I honestly do not accept this nationalist approach as any kind of way forward, either for democracies or totalitarian regimes. Rather, the way forward involves international consensus and mutual respect. Business necessitates it, the climate crisis necessitates it, pandemics necessitate it and for all these reasons the world is growing together, whether we like it or not. But this also necessitates a fundamental agreement on basic rights and wrongs. The Communist Party in this sense is an anachronism. When their markets become saturated, the people might realise it too.

Why are people still going at it?
The news is unimportant. The commentary is unimportant. Trumpâs lawsuits are unimportant. The trucks driving around with their flags are unimportant.
Time to move on to all the trees changing colors, the newest Springsteen album, staycations, and cleaning out the clothes closet.
You are free to avoid reading this thread. Why are you bothered by what others choose to discuss?

Yes, but is my recollection correct about what happened and why ? You have not stated anything about that yet, to me or miamiz.
The challenge is to the validity of the PA Supreme Court extending the deadline. This particular challenge has some legs.
My earlier point was that even if the extension is invalidated, and the ballots that were received during that extension disqualified, that would not mean the votes themselves were fraudulent.
