There was a huge increase in voter turnout.  Everyday folks haven't given up on the process, they've given up on community, service, and the idea of a greater good.  The only good that matters is me.

So much for landslide.  I fear this country has solidified almost straight down the middle and there will be little movement even with the changing demographic for some time.  I am just hoping that both parties splinter before everyday folks completely give up on the political process.  If we had viable multiple parties with more nuanced fits for everyone that would bring back faith in our political process, but until then we are headed for every year being a battle of lawyers and half the country declaring fraud in the outcome.  The winner will be declared and announced, but it will never feel like a mandate and only the most partisan hard liners will feel any sense of satisfaction.   As for this time, what now?  If they come to the conclusion that Biden won, will he be physically able to take the duties come January?  Has a President elect ever been declared unfit before taking oath?  Who will President Harris name as her VP?  Maybe they try to ride it out ala Reagan, he seemed to get by the second term ok with dementia.  Hell they managed to never acknowledge Roosevelt could not stand on his own.  Man, these are crazy times.  Well at least covid will be going away come January and the media will be reporting nothing but sunshine and blue skies from here on so our collective morale will be lifted on this alone.{#Sunny}

Chris Christie, who worked with Trump on debate prep, criticized the president’s White House speech on ABC: “It’s a bad strategic decision. It’s a bad political decision.”

Chris Wallace, on Fox News, reacted to Trump’s speech by saying: “This is an extremely flammable situation and the president just threw a match into it. He hasn’t won these states.”

With no winner in the presidential race, Trump falsely asserts that he has prevailed.
With no winner in the 2020 race and votes still being counted in several battleground states, President Trump entered the East Room of the White House at 2:21 a.m. on Wednesday and claimed without evidence that the election was being taken from him by “a very sad group of people” he falsely claimed were “trying to disenfranchise” those who had voted for him.

“This is a fraud on the American public,” he told a crowd of a few hundred supporters who were gathered indoors and were not wearing masks. “This is an embarrassment to our country. We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win the election.”

The president said he wanted to stop the counting of votes and put the outcome of the election in the hands of the Supreme Court.

“We want all voting to stop,” he said. “We will win this,” he said, before adding, incorrectly, “as far as I am concerned we already have won it.” He had not, in fact, won the battleground states he claimed as victories, like North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Michigan. Many states were still counting votes and had not reported any vote totals.

His remarks were an escalation of his monthslong effort to cast doubt on the legitimacy of the race and previewed what is expected to become a protracted legal battle. They also stood in contrast with remarks made earlier in the evening by former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., who urged his supporters to have patience until all the votes were counted.

“It’s not my place or Donald Trump’s place to declare the winner of this election,” Mr. Biden tweeted. “It’s the voters’ place.”
And so it begins?

In the post-war period, all rich western countries have stopped killing and taking with two notable exceptions:  Israel and the USA.  One could even describe the Israeli nuclear weapons backed affirmative action ethnic cleansing terrorism program as a kinder and gentler form of modern ethnic cleansing.

There is some progress there.

Once upon a time, colonialism was a zero-sum game with benefits going to the victor. These days colonialism is increasingly a negative-sum game  with both oppressed and oppressor losing.   Blame the impact of technology on the modern economy.

Smelly old white dudes can indeed be disagreeable but they do come in all shapes and sizes.  A number of them have given their lives over the centuries to protect non-white people.
