Cee Lo GreenDaryl Hall -  I Can't Go For That

At the end Daryl pronounces this tune funky. I have to agree.

California Sea Lion (Ronan) Keeps the Beat

Funk is the universal language.

What can a sea-lion teach us about musicality

I meant that that is what white people were buying. (Edit: add Springsteen to the list.) Bowie's Let's Dance was funky but he didn't really sell big ever. I suppose this question can be settled by sales figures. What were the biggest funk records in the 80's?

But what were they buying? Madonna, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Dianna Ross' comeback, new wave (Talking Heads, B-52's), and southern white rock and roll.

Wow, just wow. Did the BBc tell you this or did you go out and take a poll? How exactly did you come up with that idea?

I remember.

funk and disco aren't the same. same roots, some crossovers, but not the same.
the backlash was against mass produced bad disco and the constant overplay. most of us got over it a long time ago
there was plenty of white people on the dance floor. I remember. I was one of them.
