It's actually quite nice to have a break of 15-25 minutes after 2-3 hours of driving, which is why battery swapping didn't meet customer demand. Elon Musk explains it here: http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/car-technology/news/a25872/elon-musk-tesla-battery-swap/

That was also my experience when I took a rented Tesla on a 10 day 2500 mile road-trip through Europa. Bottom line of that was: Tesla is fully capable of long-range travel. You might also want to read about this world record: http://www.teslaupdates.co/2016/06/tesla-model-s-p85d-breaks-ev-world.html

PS: Thanks to TuneIn internet radio on the Tesla, we listened to Radio Paradise throughout Europe! :)

The map here indicated pretty good coverage, but there is the whole waiting for it to charge thing. Perhaps they should install more of those battery-swap stations to speed things up. {#Arrowd}{#Arrowd}

Generally I would agree but my commute is 50 miles a day and I could totally see having an all-electric for that, then the family van for longer trips. But yeah the range of the Honda Insight we borrowed a couple of times was impressive. Something like 600 miles on a 9 gallon tank.

however i agree with sd that the new tesla looks nice and there are several charging (some destination) stations near me

I love my 2015 Volt except for its obviously 1st gen electronics display and keypad. It's quite horrible, although the car is otherwise fantastic - and no range anxiety since it also uses gasoline.
But, the electronics are so annoying that I was about to sell it and lease a 2017 Volt, which usually sells for about 32K.

Look at all these similarly colored, similarly shaped touch areas and imagine trying to find the right one while driving. And there are plenty that are useless on a regular basis. I would love to have a few that were a bright color and I could program them to my tastes. Just getting to the "now playing" screen is a major production.

I didn't realize that the Model 3 would be 35K. That changes things...

Although, really, I have to wonder if it's not just worth it putting up with the poorly designed Volt panel for a few more years while things settle.

Current lottery cars are a Tesla Model S, Tesla Model X, and a toy; most likely a vintage BMW.
