It was a consistent memory from a childhood where we moved a lot and I never felt like I had a steady “place” to live and create memories.
I realized that by placing the slides in my current landscape, I created not only a connection between his life and mine, but a trail of memories, each that had its own association for both of us. A lot of these slides are of my mom, they were together almost 60 years..."

Okay, so this will probably be a lot of typing for just a few peoples' (none?) benefit, but I'm willing to give it a whirl.  Those of you have met hiccup and hiccup jr. are probably aware of why I call hiccup jr. that.  I mean, that child looks like her mama.  So, last week I get an e-mail from my dad saying he was digging through some stuff and found a pic of his grandmother.  I'm honestly a little weirded out by it-

Great Grandma Johnson

Genetics are very, very strange.  I showed it to junior, and she asked if I had any later pics of great grandma so she can see what she'll look like when she's older.

I'm sure they outlined the two guys for a reason. Which escapes me. Or was never in me to begin with. But it looks like they might have made marks for the stripper/platemaker to follow, like maybe they wanted them silhouetted or something in the halftone? Hmm.

Yeah, I don't know what's up with that.  If I got the story correct, the photo originally ran in the Denver newspaper.  The other UW guy on the left contacted them sometime in the '70s to get some copies of the photo, and then forwarded one on to my grandpa. I was just happy to have an "action shot".    I also have a pic of grandpa in his UW letter sweater and my brother in his UW letter jacket somewhere in our basement...need to track that one down and digitize it.

OH HOLY CRAP!

my theory is people marry others that look like themselves on some level.

I have a friend whose maternal grandmother looked like her father.
