on that stretch of music ... I'll have to listen again. In any event, "on" would be meaningless, but it gets thrown into sentences sometimes without the speaker realizing it.. It's not wrong, sort of old-fashioned, but doesn't add anything.

I think he's probably saying "..on that stretch of music." "Stretch", in that case, meaning a duration or span.
