Better add FBI, ATF & DEA to the thread title. Heard a news story yesterday that they also have drones. I almost wish I still had a rifle; I wouldn't shoot a human with one anymore but I'd gleefully take down some of those things.

WASHINGTON - Department of Defense employees working in the Intelligence community will likely avoid furloughs, an Intelligence official said in a statement released late Tuesday.
In the statement, Director of Intelligence James Clapper said, "as DNI, I have a responsibility to preserve our ability to deliver the most insightful intelligence possible. " -wtop. com

As good a take on this as anyone else's. The part that concerns me the most is that everyone testifying or speaking up within the gubmit keeps saying that we have plenty of oversight to keep everything kosher. Well avfter spending much of the past month watching the many hearings on many matters, I keep hearing either outright lies, I dunno or they're just a couple of rouge agents acting alone in response to questions that are representitive of this so called oversight. And in special cases, the 5th. It seems that the only reasons we are hearing about anything that is going wrong in gubmit is because of whistle blowers. Oversight is the gubmit pc joke du jour. Its as meaningless as all those promises of transparency. We the People are being laughed at by everyone in our gubmit as the stupidest citizens on this planet. It is so obvious that our stupidity is being taken for granted by simply watching and listening to all these hearings. I gave the least untruthful answer. Oh really ? How refreshing. How reassuring.

Guardian columnist Glenn Greenwald is now talking much more eloquently than I about the irritation of the hypocrisy of the progressive pundits who have done a complete 180 defending the same terrorists security policies that they were screaming about just 5 years ago.

sirdroseph wrote:Wow, you are working overtime trying to see some praise for the Republicans in what I wrote. Perhaps I can be more clear: the Republican party has been petty, obstructionists and downright mean not to mention on the wrong side of most social and civil rights issues for the past 50 years or more which is why even though I voted for a couple of Republican presidents over the years, I have never voted for a Republican senator or representative and have never considered myself a Republican. Quite frankly because of their untenable social issue positions, I have completely written them off for the most part for some time. I explained quite clearly why I thought they (progressives) were more hypocritical and more unforgivable imo. However as Richard pointed out semantically and technically it is incorrect because hypocrisy is hypocrisy. Now the unforgivable is my personal opinion and I have quite clearly explained why that is. If you want to think that I am somehow choosing sides in this horrible display of partisan politics from the 2 loser parties, you go right ahead if it makes you feel better. I am merely expressing why I feel the way I do, whether you think it is because I am some kind of closet Republican or not does not change my feelings on this subject instead makes me wonder why it is so important for you to find that somewhere and what you are even trying to argue. Let me clarify as well. I do think you align with the Republicans and it colored your original statement. I don't think it means you are a Republican or a proponent of their policies. Likewise I align with the Democrats on most social issues, but I don't think I am a Democrat, just that I lean that direction. I wasn't trying to argue this particular topic, just pointing out that it seemed somehow hypocritical to be more disgusted by they obvious hypocrisy of one side vs. the obvious hypocrisy of the other.
