Have you seen the GRC series? I'll be in Vegas for a convention next month and the last round of the season it taking place across the street from the convention location. I've got to go!

But of course you don't just need a course; if what I'm watching in Yurp is any guide you need good camera perches, nearby urban areas with large media markets, and really really stupid spectators.

Apparently surfing isn't covered on the evening news in some parts of the world, so here's the report from Fiji:

Australia's Owen Wright surfs a perfect heat at Fiji Pro, scoring two maximum 10 rides in round five win

It's the Australian Rules Football round honouring indigenous players this week. A year or so ago clubs started having indigenous artists design custom gurnseys. I think most clubs are on board with this now. I have to say that Hawthorne has one of the nicest this year - in contrast to their ugly normal colours.

You can see the rest here.

Porte suffers two-minute penalty for taking a wheel from another team

It's Giro D'Italia week 2 and cycling fans on this side of the world are pissed off. And in other places; an American I know on FB said, "Rule 12.1.040 / 8.2, the infamous "Non regulation assistance to a rider of another team" rule, which no one until today had ever heard of."

Aussies look after their mates. And teams are always forming ever-changing alliances and helping each other in various ways. There's quite a code of chivalry that is mostly adhered to (like not attacking when your rival is on a 'nature break'). As the article points out, this should be a good news story for the sport. I wonder if it would have been different if the teams involved were from other countries.

Rant off. I'm still having fun watching when I can't sleep even though the Italian graphics are terrible. And it's pretty fun watching Australian commentators who aren't on the scene try to find things to talk about when the film crews focus in on some random Italian rider.

Surprise at my nearly annual trip to Geelong to watch the North Melbourne Kangaroos vs. the Geelong Cats, when North won at Geelong for the first time since about 2007. My ex boss took the loss with good grace.

I exercised sport mode on my new camera.

For those of you who don't know what you're looking at—this is current world champion Marc Marquez setting the pole at Circuit of the Americas this weekend.

The video is not a trick of perspective. He really is sliding a 200+ HP motorcycle while leaned over far enough to drag his elbow, which is why he is the current world champion.

OK, back to people kicking things.

Okay the Argentina race was unbelievable!

Here's the last few before Marquez crashed out:

MotoGP- Marc Márquez Crashes Defending Against... by bigcocomero

I honestly think Rossi had him even before the crash. He had the better tire and was just showing his classic relentless style, Marquez got frustrated and lost focus. Rossi showed his maturity and a bit 'that's how we do it' to the new kid. Marquez is an amazing driver and we'll be hearing from him for a while, hopefully as long as we've had Rossi.

I doubt we'll ever see a match for Rossi's helmet livery though:
