I have a friend who moved from NY to Oslo in the late 1980s for some sort of "temporary" job in the music industry - he's still there - married, Norwegian citizen, etc. I hear from him on FB once in a while.

Why do Americans leave out the Red River, flowing north from Minnesota/North Dakota into Canada? And the reach of the Columbia River that flows north into Canada before returning to the south.

Earlier yesterday I was on the phone with a caller from Munising, who was talking about going fishing out on his boat, this weekend and it prompted me to look around their coastline on Google Earth (pretty nice). After that I zoomed out on the map and made a random drop, which happened to land in Ypsilanti.

Farther down that street on the left, you'll find Medical Marijuana Dispensary known as "The Shop". It's better to use the "View On Google Maps" option. The Google Earth Pin Guy is carrying balloons for some reason.

If you run over a cyclist, be sure to bury the evidence.

It's nice that it's so close to the Crossroads and that there are three places to eat just up the block.

DHG found this in Nome: The end of the Iditarod, March 18, 2015. If you turn around and go a few blocks up the street, you'll find the St. Patrick's Day parade (such as it is) from 3/17/2015
