Just a comment on Iran. The British Embassy was overrun and set on fire in Tehran. This takes us a step closer to a crisis. I'm not looking forward to any military action in Iran, but it seems like we will have little choice now.

The trick is building a very small platform that can hold a lot of people. But I'll bring my hammer and chip in.

rosedraws wrote:For us Dems in open states, we do have an opportunity to influence which Republican will be opposite Obama in the Presidential election.
There may be a tiny percentage of Dems who would vote for a least-threatening candidate... but I am part of the majority that would vote for the one who I would most want to be my Prez, if Obama loses.
I like what happened in the Ron Paul thread... where someone was explaining that Ron Paul is the only Peace candidate.
I'd love to hear more of other people's thoughts about who they like best... in the context of centrist or left-leaning voters. I haven't been able to stomach the debates, because the Republican attitude and direction is so far from what I would like. I mean, the crowd applauded Rick Perry's Death Penalty Record!?! No F*cking Way can I stand for that.
Rose, kudo's to you for voting. I think it's great that you're shaping the debate in who might face Obama. Ron Paul is the best option for D's. There are so many D's and I's that are crossing over just to vote for him. Checkout this great read on the Huff post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robin-koerner/blue-republican_b_886650.htmlIn the end, make up your own mind with thorough research. An informed voter is the best voter.

Very much so, imo. Michele Bachman is my HRep where my business is located. Her campaign literature is a hoot. Nelson Rockefeller types are now fringe candidates in the Republican party. I like Huntsman too. At least he is not simply "sound bytes", but can actually think on his feet and give thoughtful, cogent answers to questions. He has the credentials, but unfortunately for us, charisma and being good at shaking down people for money are prereq's, expecially for dark horse candidates. Seems he has little appetite for being a shill and giving robotic answers that are 20 seconds long. He probably does have some "charisma" in there somewhere as he was previously elected governor of Utah, if I have my facts straight. He certainly must know China, and that's going to be a big deal in my estimation.

Why does the GOP seem stuck in this deadend game of "Will the real conservative please stand up?" Have the moderates in the party been cowed?
Driven out. Not such a bad thing, really: it clarifies things for the rest of us. How so?

I've somehow gotten on Ron Paul's call list... we get regular calls and poll calls and emails and mailings. It's so interesting being in NH.
Huntsman is a good pick, Rose.

Exactly. It's one reason (among many) I simply could not vote for a Republican, not with the current GOP platform.

Why did Obama openly decide not to enforce federal laws regarding cannibus and dispensaries ?
Obama is clearly a selective enforcement guy. He is clearly in violation of his oath of office.
You have been in Chicago too long. Perhaps we could give Chicago to Mexico ?
Some downstate Republican wants us to be our own state! He actually is enforcing fed laws in CA against growers and dispensaries. Otherwise, I can't comment, I don't know the details.
