Thinkin' about it, this seeming 'need for an enemy'...
Hollywood aside, could it be labelled as pathological in a sense of being inherent nationally?
Need of enemies........ bomb them............ & the like, I mean.
Needing an adversary, someone to feel better than, is part of the need of the ego to prop itself up.
If you don't feel the push to be better than someone else, what do you care what they wear/do/think/love?
The easily triggered adversarial thing is a sign that people don't feel secure enough in who they are, and besting someone else gives them a little better feeling. This can be a habit created in the sports world when young:
"Our team won!"
or "She's wearing an ugly dress!" "You don't know etiquette." "Your favorite band sucks/If you don't like this, then you're a moron." etc...
It was posted in a context, which was missing. By a partisan poster who favors government intervention as a response to every problem, regardless of origin. I led the target but I don't think I missed.
It's dark. That may mean that the sun has gone out. Never mind what time it is—it's a crisis.
Great Twilight Zone episode titled 'I Am The Night, Color Me Black'. Worth a viewing. c.

It was a news story, with data points from a relevant market. It had a bit of speculation, but largely reasonable. There was no call to action. Are we now at the point where only the basest of information can be relayed without it political fodder?
Sunrise is at 7:05 am for freedom loving republicans, and at 7:05.37 for liberal democrats who refuse to acknowledge the light filtered through the tops of the trees they are hugging.
that's a solid point
personally my challenge is that most of the time i'm a pattern seeking creature (identify risk and seek to neutralize/mitigate it )
i see a problem and my observation and solution building framework kicks in
my other half swears it is not normal when dining out to draw an efficiency flow chart on a napkin and hand it to the manager on the way out the door

in a nutshell he's probably referring to a form of fatal conceit (past, present and future)
if i, in a gesture of good intentions break your leg and then posture as a hero/savior for bringing you crutches and putting you on welfare to survive
what have we accomplished?
intellectually honest analysis like divorcing ambitious political intentions from their actual results is sorely lacking in our society
often the results aren't immediately obvious which makes it all the more difficult
should politicians intervene in a problem when they don't know what they're doing?
cash for clunkers obviously had serious unintended consequences

what is it with the recent news that Tesla have patented a new battery design that has 10x the capacity of existing ones? (and they don't seem to be the only ones out there with exciting new battery designs).. given that range is the one issue holding back buyers from electric cars, won't there soon be a flood of ICE cars out there cos no one will want to drive one.
Until we can drive one it's just more hype.
I've lived thru sooooo many breakthrus that were going to, this time, make electric cars happen for people who aren't wealthy enough to virtue signal with their cars.
I don't see a call to government action anywhere here at all. I double checked the article and it seemed to me to be pretty much informational, and informative. It even had a quote noting that the market would adjust for the problem at hand:
âBut thereâs a reality check coming and many subprime buyers will be forced to find more affordable transportation.â
Just anticipating the next move. In order to propose a program to address a crisis you first have to have a crisisâin this case, one generated by all the previous programs, proposed to address the previous crises.
