Speaking of old AMC's I'd take this over a Pacer or Gremlin any day...

That picture looks better anyhow, maybe because of the happy driver.  She's smiling even though the gas station she's pulled up to is closed.

* Hmm: The image URL is four pages long in MS Word, and does not end in a "JPG" or other image file type.  It starts with a 'base64' prefix.

I wondered what they meant; that makes sense.  That's a cool looking wagon: nice two-tone with a "Strato-Streak V-8!"  I imagine it burned a lot of gas, but it was probably about 25¢ a gallon back then.

Back in the 70's I had the Buick version of that wagon. Same car except for trim. I really liked it. GM used 4 speed Hydramatics in those so the milage wasn't really awful maybe 17 ish. I sold it to a female friend and when she replaced the battery later she didn't put the hold down back and the battery fell over on a nice 100 degree day on Phoenix. It must have hit the fan as the engine compartment burst into flames and that was the end of the car. A real shame as it was almost like new before. Was really well made.

I guess they mean GM in general. The first production pillarless hardtops were in 1949 with Olds, Caddy and Buick (but not Pontiac).
