Awards ceremonies in general, and the Grammys specifically are pretty hollow, self-congratulatory, ostentatious displays to me: "Ooh, look, I've spent more money on this garish dress than you make in ten years."  How many Grammys did that insipid hack Christopher Cross win in just 1981 alone?  Some artists I really admire have won Grammys, but essentially, it's meaningless to me.
